15 collectives and individuals were awarded the Dao Tan Prize 2022. |
According to the Organizing Committee, after 4 years of suspension due to the pandemic and other unavoidable reasons, the Dao Tan Award was restarted by the Institute for Research on Preservation and Promotion of National Culture and the Vietnam Literature Magazine to commemorate the 115th anniversary of Dao Tan's death (1907 - 2022), on the occasion of the 133rd anniversary of President Ho Chi Minh's birthday and the 23rd anniversary of the Institute's establishment. Established in 2000, right from the establishment of the Institute for Research on Preservation and Promotion of National Culture and the Literature Magazine, the Dao Tan Award was presented to collectives and individuals with outstanding works of theater, literature, painting, and music , actively contributing to the cause of building, protecting, and integrating the country, preserving and promoting traditional cultural and artistic values. Initially, the Award was awarded every two years; from 2005 to present, it has been awarded once a year.
Journalist Nguyen The Khoa, Deputy Director of the Institute for Research on Preservation and Promotion of National Culture, Editor-in-Chief of Van Hien Magazine, said that the new feature this year is that the Award Council has considered and awarded prizes to outstanding semi-professional art troupes. This has great significance in honoring and promoting the development of semi-professional art units.
The awards were presented to 15 groups and individuals and were divided into three main categories: awards for outstanding semi-professional art troupes; awards for outstanding artists; and awards for outstanding professional art units.
Specifically, 2 awards for outstanding semi-professional art troupes were given to Ke Gam Village Tuong Troupe, Xuan Thanh Commune, Yen Thanh District, Nghe An Province; Thach Loi Commune Tuong Club, Cam Giang District, Hai Duong Province. These are two semi-professional art units that have contributed to preserving, maintaining and developing local Tuong art.
10 individual awards were given to outstanding artists including: Late sculptor Nguyen Sang; Musician Dinh Tham; Poet Tran Nhuan Minh; Playwright Hoang Thanh Du; Associate Professor, Doctor of Fine Arts, painter Doan Thi Tinh; Artist Phan Thanh Liem; Artist Binh Tinh; Photographer Nguyen Dinh Toan; Professor, Academician, painter, sculptor Ngo Xuan Binh; People's Artist Trinh Thuy Mui.
Three outstanding professional art units were honored this time, including: Le Ngoc Stage - the most successful non-public theater unit; Hung Yen Cheo Theater with the excellent play "The unjust chess game"; Long An Cai Luong Art Troupe with the award for the excellent play "By the Long Khot River".
Present at the ceremony, Associate Professor Dr. Nguyen The Ky, Chairman of the Central Council for Theory and Criticism of Literature and Art, was pleased that the Dao Tan Award honored amateur clubs and troupes at the village and commune levels. They are farmers with “muddy hands and feet” but still love tuong, keeping tuong as the “blood” in their bodies. Like the Lang Ke Gam troupe, they have just stepped out of the fields, just finished harvesting rice, and now come to the capital to receive the award. After receiving the award, they return to sow rice in time for the new crop...
"That is a very precious and respectable thing. The most noble and humane meaning of literature and art is to enter people's lives and serve the people," Associate Professor Dr. Nguyen The Ky emphasized.
Expressing her joy, People's Artist Trinh Thuy Mui, President of the Vietnam Stage Artists Association, shared that the Dao Tan Award is a noble and prestigious award, because of the recognition of those in the profession for the creative work and dedication of the collective and individual artists.
“The award is an honor, but also a responsibility for artists to continue to contribute more to the development of the country's art. I hope that the Institute for Research on Preservation and Promotion of National Culture and the Van Hien Magazine will continue to maintain this award, so that artists have more motivation to create and contribute,” People's Artist Thuy Mui expressed.
