Nearly 11 million international visitors to Vietnam in the first 6 months of 2025 |
Marking the milestone of nearly 11 million international arrivals to Vietnam in the first 6 months of 2025, an increase of 21% over the same period last year, digital travel platform Agoda has revealed the preferences of international tourists in choosing destination cities in Vietnam and listed the destinations in Vietnam that have strong appeal to international visitors in the first 2 quarters of the year.
According to the General Statistics Office of Vietnam, South Korea and China were the two largest markets sending visitors in the first half of the year, accounting for about 46% of the total number of international visitors to Vietnam in the first 6 months of the year.
Similarly, data from Agoda also reflects the same results, with South Korea and China holding the top two positions in the list of markets that visit Vietnam the most, showing the stable attraction from these two countries.
In particular, the Chinese market has made a leap from 4th place in 2024 to 2nd place this year. This signal clearly shows the strong recovery of the Chinese market and the growing attraction of Vietnam to tourists from this country.
Besides, this is also the first time Thailand is in the Top 5 markets sending international visitors to Vietnam.
Phu Quoc has replaced Hoi An in the top 5 most attractive international tourist destinations in Vietnam.
According to Agoda, the most searched destinations by international travelers in Vietnam in 2025 have not changed much from last year, with Da Nang, Ho Chi Minh City, Nha Trang and Hanoi holding the top positions.
However, Phu Quoc Island has risen to replace Hoi An in the top 5, reflecting the island's growing appeal, thanks to its stunning natural scenery and increased frequency of international flights to Phu Quoc, especially from Seoul.
Digging deeper into the data, Agoda found that South Korean travelers tend to favor coastal and island destinations. Nha Trang tops the list, followed by Da Nang and Phu Quoc, which are known for their beautiful beaches and many water activities.
Hoi An and Ho Chi Minh City also made the top 5 list thanks to their harmonious combination of traditional culture and modern excitement.
Meanwhile, Chinese tourists tend to choose big cities and island resorts. Specifically, Ho Chi Minh City leads the list, followed by Hanoi with its unique cultural beauty. Phu Quoc, Da Nang and Nha Trang are also on the favorite list, thanks to the experience of combining entertainment and exploring natural landscapes.
