The final round of the 18th National Press Awards - 2023 opened on May 31 in Hanoi .
165 works entered the final round of the National Press Award
This year, the Final Jury will evaluate and judge 165 works in 11 categories, selected from 1,905 entries.
In his opening speech, Mr. Le Quoc Minh - Editor-in-Chief of Nhan Dan Newspaper, Chairman of the Vietnam Journalists Association, Chairman of the National Press Awards Council - commented that in recent years, many press agencies have innovated, approached modern journalism technology, developed multi-platform, multimedia journalism and creative forms of journalism, and accelerated the digital transformation in the field of journalism and media.
Thanks to that, in addition to central press agencies, some local newspapers and radio stations have changed the way they choose topics and themes and implemented them in new and modern ways, which were highly appreciated by the Preliminary Council for both quality and form of expression.
The entries have closely followed major topics from politics , economics, culture, society, security, defense and aspects of life in 2023.
The press reflects many hot social issues.
The press has promptly and vividly reflected major events and important issues of the country with prominent topics such as: Efforts to implement the 2023 socio-economic development plan and the 2020-2030 socio-economic development strategy;
The work of Party building and rectification; inspection, supervision and control of power is associated with the fight against corruption and negativity;
Fight against wrong and hostile views; uphold the spirit of great national unity.
In addition, the press also covers historical topics, commemorating important events of the country;
Hot social issues, such as the terrorist attack in Dak Lak, anti-corruption in the vehicle inspection industry, consequences of mini apartments, cutting of meals for boarding students; deforestation and climate change...
In addition, the finalists of the 2023 National Press Awards also include works that demonstrate good people and good deeds, "6 dares" cadres in difficult lands, ethnic minority teachers, great messengers... with noble, convincing and touching gestures.
Mr. Le Quoc Minh said that the members of the National Press Award Final Jury are experienced, enthusiastic, dedicated and highly prestigious journalists.
The 2023 National Press Awards ceremony is scheduled to be held on the occasion of the 99th anniversary of Vietnam Revolutionary Press Day, June 21, towards the milestone of 100 years of Vietnam Revolutionary Press in 2025.
