On the afternoon of June 17, the press conference before the final match of the 2025 Southeast Asian U19 Women's Championship between the Vietnam U19 Women's Team and Thailand took place in Ho Chi Minh City. This match will take place at 6:30 p.m. tomorrow (June 18) at Thong Nhat Stadium.
Speaking at a press conference, coach Okiyama Masahiko said: "I watched the semi-final match between Thailand's U19 women's team and Myanmar. However, it was rainy so I couldn't analyze much. Thailand's U19 women's team has many good players. Their attack line has 5-6 good players who can be promoted to the Thai women's team."
The Japanese coach also said that the whole team is ready to play in the rain in the final match. "The U19 women's team of Vietnam has gotten used to the rainy weather conditions during the recent training period. We also met to find a solution. The players grasped the situation quickly and practiced very well on the field," he said.
"The U19 Vietnamese women's defense has not conceded any goals after 4 matches. So are you confident that the team can stand firm against the very strong attack (scoring 22 goals - the most in the tournament) of the U19 Thai women's team?"
Answering this question, coach Okiyama Masahiko said: "It is true that the group stage is completely different from the semi-finals and finals. The U19 Vietnam women's team will make some adjustments to their defense in the training session before the final match.
The coaching staff will remind the goalkeeper to stand firm against the Thai U19 women's team. We have experience playing against men and played well. Hopefully, the Vietnamese U19 women's team will not concede any goals throughout the tournament."

The Vietnam U19 women's team has twice finished second after losing to Thailand U19 in the finals in 2014 and 2023. Therefore, playing at home this time is a great opportunity for the Vietnamese girls to "get revenge" on their opponents.
The final will be very difficult.
Coach Okiyama Masahiko shared: "As I said at the press conference before the tournament, the goal of the U19 women's team of Vietnam is to win the championship, and we have the ability to do this. Of course, the opponent also wants to win the championship, so the final match will be very difficult.
The match has not yet taken place so the result is not known. One thing is for sure, the U19 Vietnam women's team will play their best to contribute to a beautiful match."
For her part, coach Nuengrutai Srathongvian said that the Thai U19 women's team was lucky that no players were injured and were ready for the match.
The coach who led the Thai women's team to defeat Vietnam and participate in the 2015 Women's World Cup said: "The Vietnamese women's U19 team is a strong team, we have carefully studied the host team. Playing against the Vietnamese women's U19 team is an experience and more than a challenge for the Thai women's U19 team."
Evaluating the defense of the U19 women's team of Vietnam, coach Nuengrutai Srathongvian said: "The defenders of the U19 women's team of Vietnam played very well, so it was a big challenge for us. I cannot evaluate the chances of winning, because it is a matter of timing, but the chances of winning are equally divided between the two teams.
Vietnam's U19 women's team has many good players like Hoang Van, Thanh Hieu... Therefore, Thailand's U19 women's team needs a good defensive plan to lock down these two players."
