The press must first serve the revolution and serve the people.

This is a publication that collects 40 typical articles, speeches, letters, telegrams, and appeals of President Ho Chi Minh sent to readers, journalists, and domestic and international press agencies, written from 1922 to 1962. Not only is it a valuable historical document, the book is also a guideline for orienting the ideology, ethics, and professional qualities of the revolutionary press in the current period.

As the founder of Vietnam's revolutionary press, President Ho Chi Minh always identified the press as a "sharp weapon" in the revolutionary cause. He emphasized that the task of the press is to serve the Party, serve the revolution and serve the interests of the people. That ideology is consistently expressed in each article and each specific instruction that he left behind. The pages of the book not only clearly state the goals and roles of the press, but also give specific requirements on the method of writing, professional ethics, and a concise, coherent, easy-to-understand and convincing style of expression.

The book is a profound message and advice from President Ho Chi Minh to the team of Vietnamese journalists.

A highlight of the book is the very practical and profound instructions of President Ho Chi Minh for journalists. He asked journalists to always ask themselves: "Who are you writing for?", "What are you writing for?", "How to write in a way that is easy to understand, easy to remember, easy to follow?". He especially emphasized the truthfulness and responsibility in each word and warned against bragging, formalism, and dogmatism in journalism. He considered journalists as revolutionary soldiers, considered pens and paper as "weapons" and required journalists to be ambitious, constantly study, and cultivate political and moral qualities.

Through articles such as Propagandists and Propaganda Methods; The Shortcomings of Our Press or Criticism Must Have Self-Criticism... readers can clearly see the fighting viewpoint, practicality and inquisitive spirit that President Ho Chi Minh conveyed. Articles such as Popular Press or Children's Newspaper also demonstrate the spirit of serving all classes of people, from workers to youth - the future force of the country.

In the current context, when the press is facing many challenges such as multi-dimensional information, rapidly developing social networks, commercialization pressure and widespread fake news, the guiding thoughts of President Ho Chi Minh still retain their value as a red thread to guide journalists. Therefore, the book is not only for journalists, but also a useful reference for cadres, party members, those working in media management and a large number of readers interested in the revolutionary press career.
