On August 14, many Arab countries simultaneously spoke out about Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's statement regarding the idea of "Greater Israel," saying that this is a threat to the sovereignty of countries and regional peace .
Previously, in an interview with i24NEWS on August 12, Prime Minister Netanyahu affirmed that he fully supports the vision of "Greater Israel" and considers ensuring Israel's existence a great mission.
The concept comes from a biblical interpretation of the territory of King Solomon's time, which included the present-day Gaza Strip and West Bank, plus parts of Jordan, Lebanon, and Syria.
In response to Prime Minister Netanyahu's statement, Jordan said it was a dangerous escalation and a threat to the sovereignty of nations. Egypt asked Israel to clarify the statement, saying it was nothing more than a denial of the option of peace.
Iraq, Qatar and Saudi Arabia also strongly condemned Israel's unreasonable ambitions, calling for respect for Palestine's right to establish an independent state.
In another development, on the same day, Israel's Channel 12 reported that Mossad Director David Barnea arrived in Qatar's capital Doha to hold talks with Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al Thani about a ceasefire agreement in Gaza and a prisoner exchange.
According to Egyptian sources, a Hamas delegation is also in Cairo to discuss a ceasefire and internal Palestinian reconciliation./.
