Heavy rain in many areas across the country

(Baothanhhoa.vn) - On August 17, the National Center for Hydro-Meteorological Forecasting issued a warning of heavy rain in the Northeast, Thanh Hoa to Quang Tri; thunderstorms, localized heavy rain, tornadoes, lightning, hail, strong gusts of wind in the Northwest, Hue City, South Central Coast, Central Highlands and the South.

Last night and early this morning (August 17), the area from Thanh Hoa to Da Nang and the Central Highlands had rain, moderate rain, and locally heavy rain to very heavy rain. The rainfall from 7pm on August 16 to 3am on August 17 was over 70mm in some places.

It is forecasted that from August 17 to the night of August 18, the Northeast, Thanh Hoa and Nghe An will have moderate rain, heavy rain and thunderstorms (50-120mm, locally very heavy rain over 250mm; in the northern mountainous region 30-80mm, some places over 150mm).

On the day and night of August 17, Ha Tinh and Quang Tri will have moderate to heavy rain (40-90mm, locally very heavy rain over 200mm).

In addition, on the day and night of August 17, the Northwest, Hue City, South Central Coast, Central Highlands and South will have scattered showers and thunderstorms, locally heavy to very heavy rain (10-30mm, locally over 80mm).

Risk of heavy rain >100mm/3h in some places.

Warning day and night 19/8, Northeast and Thanh Hoa have moderate rain, heavy rain and thunderstorms, locally very heavy rain (30-80mm, locally over 150mm).
