From June 27 to July 1, 2025, the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee will organize a series of key political and cultural events to celebrate the 327th anniversary of the establishment and development of Saigon - Cho Lon - Gia Dinh - Ho Chi Minh City, and mark 49 years since the city was officially honored to be named after Uncle Ho. This is an opportunity to review the heroic history, honor the cultural values and people of the City and spread the spirit of innovation, creativity and humanity in the integration period.
Accordingly, on the evening of June 27, at the main stage on Nguyen Hue Street (intersection of Ngo Duc Ke, District 1), Ho Chi Minh City held the Opening Ceremony of the Festival and launched the Action Month for the Environment in 2025. The opening event will combine an art program with the theme: For a clean, green and environmentally friendly city.
Immediately afterwards, from 7:30 p.m. to 9:30 p.m., the Announcement and Award Ceremony of the 5th Ho Chi Minh City Environmental Award took place, while honoring 50 wards, communes and towns that have achieved the standards of “clean, green, and environmentally friendly”. The event strongly conveyed the commitment of the City’s government and people in the journey of green transformation and sustainable urban development.
On June 28, activities within the framework of the Happy Family Festival will be held throughout the day. From 8am to 11am, a cooking contest for 100 typical families will take place at the main gate of the Festival (the intersection of Nguyen Hue and Le Loi streets, District 1). Along with that, there will be activities displaying traditional Vietnamese cultural spaces, a folk game area for children, a photo exhibition on family happiness, and a performance of wedding costumes - ao dai.
In the evening of the same day, at 7:00 p.m., the Ceremony to honor “Typical Cultural and Happy Families” took place on the main stage. This was an opportunity to honor the core values of the family in the context of modern urban development.
On June 29, 2025 (Sunday), from 7:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m., the Ceremony to announce and award the decision to recognize OCOP products in 2024 will take place, within the framework of the 3rd City-level New Rural Culture and Sports Festival - 2025. The program space will include an area displaying typical OCOP products of Ho Chi Minh City and other provinces, high-tech agricultural models, green production - green consumption initiatives, contributing to connecting the community, businesses and manufacturers, enhancing the position of the City's agricultural products in the market.
The announcement ceremony of the Resolutions and Decisions of the Central and local governments on the arrangement of provincial and communal administrative units and the establishment of the new Ho Chi Minh City will take place at 8:00 a.m. on Monday, June 30, 2025 at the Ho Chi Minh City Academy of Officials. The program will be broadcast live at the Ho Chi Minh City bridge, connecting online to all 168 communes, wards, and special zones.
At the ceremony, the Central Committee will announce resolutions and decisions on ending district-level activities; establishing communes, wards, and special zones; establishing and appointing the new Ho Chi Minh City Party Committee, government, Fatherland Front, and affiliated administrative units. This is a political-administrative event of special significance, marking an important shift in the organization of the apparatus and development of Ho Chi Minh City's urban space after the rearrangement of administrative units.
On the same day, in the evening from 7pm to 9pm, at the main stage of Nguyen Hue walking street, a special art program will take place to celebrate the 327th anniversary of the formation of Saigon - Cho Lon - Gia Dinh - Ho Chi Minh City and the 49th anniversary of the city being honored to be named after Uncle Ho. The program consists of three parts: "Radiant South", "Heroic Land" and "Uncle Ho's City Enters a New Era", recreating the flow of history - culture - people of the South through the periods, from the early days of opening up the land to a modern, dynamic and integrated urban area. Thereby, it aims to honor the spirit of resilient resistance, cultural exchange and strong development aspirations of this land.
Closing the series of activities is the Announcement and Award Ceremony of the 4th Ho Chi Minh City Innovation Awards 2025 taking place at 7:00 p.m. on July 1 (Tuesday) at the main stage of Nguyen Hue walking street. The event aims to honor research works and innovative solutions with high practical value in the fields of science - technology, education, arts, communications and administrative reform, contributing to building Ho Chi Minh City into a leading center of innovation and knowledge in the region.
During the series of events from June 27 to July 1, at other stages on Nguyen Hue walking street, there will be activities such as: Circus performances, Don ca tai tu art, Flamenco, fashion shows, organizing performances, competitions and exchanges of traditional sports, physical games; drum performances, lion and dragon dance, Vovinam, traditional martial arts, dance groups, sports competitions...
