According to the Department of Cultivation and Plant Protection (Department of Agriculture and Environment of Hai Phong city), the city's longan output this year is estimated at 19,500 tons, an increase of 17% over the same period last year.
This year, although the weather conditions at the beginning of the season were not very favorable, thanks to the experience and methodical cultivation techniques of the people, this year's longan crop still produced high yield and quality. City farmers are focusing on harvesting late-season and late-season longans. Longan consumption is relatively favorable.
Currently, the city has nearly 2,500 hectares of longan, concentrated in Ha Dong commune and Nguyen Trai and Tran Nhan Tong wards in the West Hai Phong area. Longan is one of the city's main fruit trees. Many longan areas are produced by farmers according to VietGAP processes, some areas are also given growing area codes, ensuring conditions and standards for supply to convenience stores, supermarket chains and for export.
