Community Engagement
As a retired cadre, 73 years old this year, Mr. Bang Van Vuong, a prestigious person in Van Song village, Son Thuy commune, always actively participates in propagating and mobilizing people to well implement the Party's policies and the State's laws, contributing to building his homeland.
Van Song village has 151 households, 730 people, mainly San Diu ethnic group. It is the locality with the largest forest coverage area in the commune, of which protective forest is more than 16 hectares. To demonstrate his role and responsibility when being trusted by the people, Mr. Vuong actively coordinates to propagate people not to encroach on or cut down protective forests, to preserve water resources. In recent years, he has coordinated with the authorities to resolve many forest land disputes and small conflicts among the people. At the same time, he actively participates in mediation work in the village, so any conflicts and disputes between households and family members are promptly visited and mediated by him.
In the new rural construction movement, he actively propagated and mobilized people to raise awareness of environmental sanitation, cleaning village roads and alleys every week so that residential areas were always clean. At the same time, he guided households to arrange and set up hygienic livestock barns; donated land, money, and working days to widen intra-village roads, build intra-field canals, and build cultural house grounds...
In particular, since 2019, Mr. Vuong and Mr. Do Duc Nguyet have established the Soong Co Club with 12 members to preserve the cultural identity of the San Diu ethnic group. Along with that, the club members also participate in propagating resolutions and directives of the Party, State, and locality on preserving and promoting the traditional cultural identity of ethnic minorities, contributing to raising awareness of preserving and promoting the value of national culture, strengthening people's trust. Thanks to that, people's lives are increasingly improved. In 2024, the village will have 95% of households achieving the title of cultural family, no one suffering from social evils, 100% of children going to school...

The extended arm of the Party
Like Mr. Vuong, Mr. Hoang Van Huong, NCUT, Party cell secretary, Head of Dong Chay village, Son Thuy commune, has been a key cadre of the village for nearly 30 years. From 2021 to present, Mr. Huong and the Party cell have mobilized people to contribute resources worth nearly 800 million VND to complete the construction of the new rural area. In 2024, to complete the construction of the Dong Chay - Cao Da spillway bridge, Mr. Huong persistently mobilized 5 households to donate more than 1,000 square meters of land.
In particular, Mr. Huong has actively encouraged people to participate in the health club, contributing to the development of the local cultural and sports movement. With the desire to preserve the cultural identity of the San Diu ethnic group, he also encourages the younger generation to participate in the Soong Co singing club, contributing to preserving the language, writing and traditional customs. In addition, Mr. Huong is also a shining example of economic development. With a model of raising more than 30 commercial pigs per litter, it not only helps the family improve their income but also serves as a source of encouragement and experience sharing for the villagers.
Mr. Huong shared: “If you want people to believe and follow, you have to lead by example, sometimes having to suffer losses. Don’t be afraid of difficulties, always be close to the people, understand them, when people believe, everything is easy.”
Resolution No. 120/2020/QH14 of the National Assembly approving the investment policy of the National Target Program on Socio-Economic Development in Ethnic Minority and Mountainous Areas for the 2021-2030 period, identifies the goal of narrowing the gap in living standards and incomes of ethnic minority and mountainous areas compared to the national average. Achieving the above goal requires the efforts and determination of the entire political system, in which NCUT plays a particularly important role in taking the lead in propagating and mobilizing local people.
Son Thuy commune has over 50 NCUTs. Most of the NCUTs are old but always strive to contribute to the common development of the community. Mr. Tran Xuan Ha, Deputy Head of the Department of Culture and Society of Son Thuy commune, said that NCUTs play a particularly important role in the commune, especially in villages with a large number of ethnic minorities. NCUTs always take the lead in all tasks entrusted by the government. The commune government highly values and appreciates NCUTs, and every year organizes the implementation of regimes and policies according to regulations to create motivation and inspiration, spreading to all people.
Each NCUT individual has different levels of contribution and influence in the community, but they all have one thing in common. That is exemplary, dedicated, enthusiastic "saying what people believe, doing what people do". They are the bridge connecting the Party's will and the people's heart, and have made very important contributions to the cause of great national unity.
