Participating in the program "Summer Day in the Army" organized by Lien Chieu District Youth Union in coordination with Air Defense Division 375 (Cam Le District), Pham Dang Khoa (Thanh Khe Dong Ward, Thanh Khe District) was originally a shy boy, entering the barracks with many worries. However, after only a few days of training, Khoa quickly adapted to military life. "At first, I found it difficult because I had to wake up early, eat on time and follow orders to do everything. But as time went on, I found it more and more interesting because I learned how to live a neat life, take care of myself and care about the people around me," Khoa confided.
Not only Khoa, many other "little soldiers" also expressed their joy and excitement when experiencing the military environment for the first time. Cao Ngoc Thien Kim (Hoa Minh ward, Lien Chieu district) said: "This is the first time I am away from home and have to be completely independent, so at first I was very worried. Thanks to the coach's constant reminders, care, and encouragement, I have learned the habit of waking up on time, quickly going to the yard to do morning exercises, folding my own blankets, and doing personal hygiene."
The program was held from June 10 to 19. In addition to training on military regulations and familiarizing themselves with some common weapons, the students also learned about anti-aircraft artillery combat crews; practiced fire prevention and fighting; and visited Brigade 161, Naval Region 3. Captain Doan Tu Thai Son, mass work assistant, Air Defense Division 375, said that the unit organized the students into 10 squads, under the management and supervision of company, platoon, squad leaders and coordinators. In order to create the best living and training conditions for the young soldiers, the unit has prepared adequate accommodation, training facilities and a team of highly responsible officers. The weather is unpredictable, so the unit has a specific training plan and program to promptly respond to all situations to ensure the health of the students.
According to Secretary of Lien Chieu District Youth Union Huynh Thanh Binh, this is a practicaleducational environment that helps children practice discipline, independence and life skills. We hope that after the training course, the children will take with them valuable lessons to apply in their daily lives, becoming good children, good students and responsible citizens to the community.
Also at the same time, the City Youth Union coordinated with the Military School of Military Region 5 (Hoa Tho Tay Ward, Cam Le District) to organize the program "Semester in the Army" with 150 participants from secondary and high schools in the city and neighboring provinces. The program took place with activities: studying and training on military regulations, getting acquainted with some types of weapons, participating in physical games, training, cultural activities, physical education, sports ; equipping skills for collective activities, behavior, teamwork, communication... In addition, visiting, learning and practicing on fire prevention, fire fighting, social security activities. Ms. Nguyen Thi Kim Ngan, parent of Tran Nguyen Quy Nhan (Hai Chau district) shared: “I registered my child to participate in the program with the hope that he would have the opportunity to train himself, stay away from electronic devices to experience something more realistic. I feel that this is the right choice, because my child not only learns discipline but also appreciates the little things in everyday life.”
According to Deputy Secretary of the City Youth Union, Chairman of the City Youth Union Nguyen Ba Duan, the program “Summer Days in the Army” contributes to educating young people about the traditions of the Party, the Youth Union and the Vietnam People’s Army.
