Looking for new generation models
Vietnam's Next Top Model has just launched its 2025 season in Ho Chi Minh City, marking a positive return after 8 years of absence of the number 1 model search competition in Vietnam. The top 15 contestants entering the "common house" were also announced with new faces.

Notable are Tuyet Mai - a Taekwondo athlete with an ideal body ratio; Lai Mai Hoa with an impressive height of 1m84; top 15 Miss Vietnam 2024 Vu My Ngan; content creator Tam Thanh (Zicky Lee)... They were selected from more than 1,000 faces participating in the search and selection round from the beginning of May until now. This year's season is also notable for the appearance of a series of highly creative reality fashion challenges, with strong investment in image, expertise and fashion elements. In addition, the panel of judges also received a lot of attention with veteran names: supermodel Thanh Hang, designer Do Manh Cuong, creative director duo Nam Trung and Ha Do.
Ms. Trang Le, general director and producer of Vietnam's Next Top Model, said that 15 years ago, the program focused on finding potential models, but now, the main goal is to train Top Models (supermodels) and Vedettes (outstanding models), to supplement the domestic professional fashion industry. "Entering the competition, contestants must know the basics such as posing and catwalking. What the competition builds in them is their attitude towards life, professional skills and professional working style. Because after the competition, they will step onto major catwalks at home and abroad, so attitude, skills and professionalism are essential," Ms. Trang Le shared.
In addition to Vietnam's Next Top Model, recently there have been a series of competitions to search for and build professional models such as: The Face Vietnam - Brand Face, The New Mentor - All-round Model, The Next Gentleman - Perfect Gentleman...
Launch pad for talents
The return of competitions and well-invested model search programs is a good sign for those in the profession. Because these are not only entertainment programs serving the audience but also necessary supports for the modeling profession. For example, the New generation of models project organized by supermodel Xuan Lan, searching for models to participate in fashion shows at catwalks in Korea, Italy, France, America... helps Vietnamese models have the opportunity to compete in the international arena. Or like Vietnam's Next Top Model has contributed significantly to creating generations of famous models, making their mark in the world's fashion capitals such as: Trang Khieu, Tuyet Lan, Hoang Thuy, Mau Thuy, Kha My Van, Thuy Trang, Cha My... Many models from here have even conquered beauty contests such as Pham Huong, H'Hen Nie, Ngoc Chau, Hoang Thuy, Mau Thuy, Quynh Chau, Huong Ly...
One of the typical examples of people who became famous from competitions is the case of model Huynh Tu Anh, the champion of The Face Vietnam in the most recent season (2023). Immediately after the final round, Tu Anh was taken by her management company to Paris (France), Milan (Italy) for casting for fashion week and she quickly gained attention, walking at Milan Fashion Week, Paris Fashion Week in shows of major fashion houses Calcaterra, Hodakova, Leonard Paris, Blssd, Lacoste Show private. Tu Anh also received many cooperation contracts with major modeling companies, appearing on the covers of famous fashion magazines, contributing to raising the profile of Vietnamese models on the international fashion map.
Designer Do Manh Cuong commented that Vietnamese models are now taller and more beautiful, but at the international level, they require a lot of standards, effort and hard work. Ms. Trang Le also agreed: “The fashion world out there is extremely harsh. Many Vietnamese models have had to return to train again when they go to the international environment. Not everyone with outstanding height and a model-standard face can become a model. Besides needing a team and a management company to support them, the model herself must first make an effort to study, perform, communicate in foreign languages, and behave professionally…”.
The return of model search game shows brings many expectations about repositioning the modeling profession. However, there are also many concerns that the programs need to avoid following in the footsteps of some previous competitions and game shows when they fell into controversy, noise, and deviated from the original goals. Therefore, new programs and projects need positive changes to truly be a launching pad, fueling the desire to reach new heights of young models, contributing to building a professional and positive fashion show industry.
