Road degradation
Recently, returning to Nguyen Dinh Chieu and Huynh Thuc Khang streets on the Ham Tien - Mui Ne coastal route, we witnessed the deterioration of this route, especially the section bordering the two wards from Dai Duong Xanh restaurant to Mui Ne fishing village, full of potholes and "elephant holes" appearing on the road surface. The road surface is narrow, many vehicles carrying tourists and buses have to move slowly to avoid each other. Meanwhile, many motorbikes carrying goods and people drive quite fast, making some Western tourists walking on this road in the morning feel uneasy; a few "white lines" left by traffic accidents on the road surface. Mr. Tran Van Thanh, a resident of Quarter 2, Mui Ne Ward, who has lived here for many years, said: “During holidays, summer, and weekends, a large number of tourists flock to Mui Ne National Tourist Area to visit and explore the scenic spots in the area. Passenger cars, taxis, and motorbikes are crowded, the roads are narrow and degraded, and traffic safety has not been guaranteed for many years now!”

Policy of upgrading and expanding
Faced with the current state of road degradation, through the proposal of the People's Committee of Phan Thiet City, Binh Thuan Province has approved the Project to repair and upgrade Nguyen Dinh Chieu and Huynh Thuc Khang streets (from Hoang Ngoc Tourist Area to Lang Chai intersection), creating convenience for local people and tourists to Mui Ne and Ham Tien for sightseeing, relaxation, and safe travel. The total investment capital of the project is more than 309 billion VND. The route is nearly 5 km long, with a roadbed width of 17m (expanding the roadbed on each side by 1.5m). Recently, Mr. Phan Nguyen Hoang Tan, Chairman of the People's Committee of Phan Thiet City, together with the city's departments and localities, inspected the construction progress; urged units to speed up site clearance work, and requested contractors to open more construction sites. The Chairman of the People's Committee of Phan Thiet City directed the settlement of petitions from some households who have not yet handed over the site to speed up the project's progress. Mr. Nguyen Van Tho, Vice Chairman of Mui Ne Ward People's Committee said: "Mui Ne Ward People's Committee focuses on applying appropriate compensation policies for the remaining households, mobilizing people to hand over the land by the end of June, creating conditions for contractors to construct the city's tourist road". Currently, the Phan Thiet City Land Fund Development Center continues to count additional cases from Suoi Tien Bridge to Lang Chai intersection, apply additional prices for architectural assets and crops for the files that have been approved by the Phan Thiet City People's Committee for compensation plans, and promptly hand over the land to the construction unit.
It is known that the completed tourist route has a drainage system to solve the flooding problem in the rainy season; wastewater is brought to the treatment plant, limiting pollution of the marine environment. The Nguyen Dinh Chieu and Huynh Thuc Khang routes connecting DT.716 (Mui Ne - Hoa Thang) create a premise for sustainable tourism development in Mui Ne National Tourist Area.
