On the morning of January 30 (the 2nd day of Tet), according to Hai Duong Newspaper reporters, many markets in Hai Duong have resumed operations.

At markets: Ninh Giang town, Dinh Ca in Tan Huong commune (Ninh Giang), Tuan Viet (Kim Thanh)..., prices of some types of green vegetables, aquatic products, and seafood increased compared to normal days.

Specifically, the price of cauliflower and cabbage ranges from 10,000 - 12,000 VND/head, kohlrabi 6,000 - 8,000 VND/root, mustard greens and jute 6,000 - 8,000 VND/bunch, celery 10,000 - 12,000 VND/bunch..., an increase of 2,000 - 3,000 VND/head, bunch compared to normal days.

Along with green vegetables, some types of aquatic products and seafood also increased in price, from 10,000 - 20,000 VND/kg compared to normal days. Carp is 60,000 - 65,000 VND/kg, grass carp is 90,000 - 100,000 VND/kg, tiger prawn is 370,000 - 380,000 VND/kg, river shrimp is 230,000 - 250,000 VND/kg, clams are 20,000 - 25,000 VND/kg. Meanwhile, the price of pork and beef remains stable, 90,000 - 140,000 VND/kg of pork, 280,000 - 320,000 VND/kg of beef.

Mr. Nguyen Van Thao, a pork trader at Tuan Viet market, said: “Normally, people’s purchasing power on the second day of Tet is not as high as on pre-Tet and normal days. However, I and many other traders often open shops on this day to bring good luck at the beginning of the year.”

The reason why some types of green vegetables, aquatic products, and seafood are in high demand is because many people choose them to change their family's menu. Ms. Nguyen Thi Nuong in Ninh Giang town shared that during Tet, her family members were bored with many dishes such as chicken, banh chung, gio cha... so she decided to change the menu, buying fish, tiger prawns, and many green vegetables to make hot pot.
