Garnacho is causing controversy at MU.

The Telegraph has revealed that two Premier League clubs are ready to pull off one of the most surprising player swaps of the summer. With Garnacho and Nkunku both expressing their desire to leave Manchester United and Chelsea respectively, the prospect of the two stars moving in opposite directions is being seriously considered.

Chelsea and Manchester United executives believe that a swap deal involving Nkunku and Garnacho could solve the problems plaguing both clubs. However, things will be quite complicated as it involves many parties, including the agents and families of the two players.

At Manchester United, Alejandro Garnacho was told by head coach Ruben Amorim that he was no longer part of the team's plans. To signal his intention to leave, Garnacho even posted a picture of himself wearing an Aston Villa shirt with Marcus Rashford's name on the back, a move that sparked controversy earlier this week.

Meanwhile, Chelsea are looking for a new left-winger in the summer transfer window. Garnacho is on the Blues' list of top targets, along with Borussia Dortmund's Jamie Gittens and Lyon's Malick Fofana.

Manchester United’s interest in Nkunku is nothing new. In the January transfer window, when Chelsea expressed their intention to sign Garnacho – who is valued at around £60m – the Old Trafford club also showed interest in Nkunku.

Another key factor in making the swap happen is Christopher Vivell, Manchester United's current director of recruitment. Vivell previously served as technical director at Chelsea and RB Leipzig. Vivell has a good relationship with Nkunku, who joined Chelsea from Leipzig in June 2023 for £52m.
