Paving the way for poverty reduction in Phuoc Son from labor export

Implementing the sustainable poverty reduction program, Phuoc Son district focuses on vocational training, job creation and sending ethnic minority youth to work abroad for a limited period of time.

Ms. Ho Thi Hanh's family (village 3, Phuoc Chanh commune) has a daughter working in Japan since 2022. With an income of 20 - 25 million VND/month, Ms. Hanh's daughter has paid off the loan of 250 million VND when working abroad and is applying for a 3-year extension.

“Thanks to hard work and saving, my child has covered all the expenses when going to work abroad and started to accumulate capital,” said Ms. Hanh.

In Phuoc Chanh commune, 4 other young people registered to work abroad thanks to the propaganda from the district's departments and organizations. This is an important solution for Phuoc Chanh to reduce the rate of poor households, ensuring the criteria to be recognized as a new rural commune.

In Phuoc Nang commune, Ms. Duong Thi Phuong started working in Laos for a domestic company with a salary of nearly 20 million VND/month. After that, she persuaded her husband to go to Laos with her, creating conditions to take care of their children's future, escaping the precarious life before.

According to the representative of the Women's Union of Phuoc Nang commune, the association has actively promoted and used the example of Ms. Phuong and her husband to change the awareness of women in the whole commune. At the same time, it has integrated the labor export policy into the poverty reduction program, helping women in the highlands understand the benefits and boldly participate in labor export consulting programs.

According to statistics from the People's Committee of Phuoc Son district, from 2021 to present, the district has coordinated to organize 20 consulting points for more than 380 workers, supported vocational training for 7 workers and 20 foreign job referral consultants.

The district-level labor market connection conference was held to promote labor export. By the first quarter of 2025, 43 workers had registered to learn, of which 27 went abroad to work for a limited period.

Mr. Le Quang Trung - Chairman of Phuoc Son District People's Committee, said that in 2025, the locality has achieved many encouraging results in poverty reduction thanks to national target programs and support for production development. Among them, there are a number of cases of labor export, accessing foreign markets with stable income.

From the income from labor export, some households have renovated their houses, invested in production, and improved their quality of life. The positive effects have spread when successful labor export cases have called on their relatives to participate. Highland youth have also gradually seen a new way out of poverty through labor export.
