VHO - On July 20, at the new Hanoi Children's Palace (Pham Hung, Hanoi), the 2025 National Junior MC Contest officially kicked off, opening the 12th season with the meaningful theme: "The Era of Rising".

After 11 successful seasons, the National Junior MC has become a launching pad for thousands of young talents across the country, not only helping them practice their program hosting skills but also forming stage presence, confidence and language thinking from their earliest years.

In 2025, the 12th exam season made its mark on a national scale, attracting more than 8,000 applications from different provinces, cities and regions - a record number.

After the preliminary round, nearly 600 of the best candidates officially entered the live selection round this morning, gathering in Hanoi to demonstrate their talent, intelligence and creativity in every word.

This year's jury includes prestigious names in the fields of art, media and education such as: People's Artist Lan Huong, Meritorious Artist Do Ky, journalist Vu Thanh Huong, journalist Hanh An An, journalist Bui Viet Cuong, MC/CEO Thanh Mai, MC/CEO Ngan Ha, singer Viet Tu, MC/BTV Thuy Duong, MC Trinh Van Anh, MC Thanh Hang, actress Truc Mai, actress Minh Huong, CEO Do Thuy Duong, actress Thuy Anh.

They are not only rich in professional experience but also have a special understanding of children's psychology. MC Thanh Mai, Head of the Organizing Committee, said: "We want the children to develop their acting skills, but they do not need to be too "old" to imitate adults."

Sharing about the judging criteria, the representative of the Organizing Committee emphasized the diversity in the judges' perspectives: "With judges being MCs, they will judge the contestants on their hosting skills. Journalists will look at the contestants from the perspective of exploitation, depth of content, and creative ideas."

“With actors like Thuy Anh, Truc Mai,… they will evaluate their flexibility, acting ability and stage improvisation, and age-appropriate clarity,” said a representative of the Organizing Committee.

After the selection round, the contestants will enter Round 1 - TV MC : Contestants choose their favorite topic and host in the studio of the Young Pioneer and Children Newspaper.

Common House Round: Contestants work on a common theme given by the Organizing Committee, which is "Vietnamese Cultural Flow".

The theme of this year's Final Round is "The Era of Rising", associated with the message of development and integration while still preserving cultural identity.

“We want the young contestants to express this topic from a fresh, innocent perspective that is appropriate for their age,” MC Thanh Mai shared.

“Just speak Vietnamese well”

When asked whether there will be an English MC or bilingual MC category in the future to suit the integration trend, the Head of the Organizing Committee expressed his concern: “Because this is a national playground, the contestants come from different regions, many remote areas and their English proficiency will be a limitation if included. I think that the contestants should just speak Vietnamese well, English is just like an additional 'certificate'...”.

She also emphasized the importance of Vietnamese in the art of hosting: “Our Vietnamese language has 5 tones and 6 tones, it is a language whose tones are already the best. So I think English will only be a part of the competition.”

Scoring requires the judges to be very delicate: "We work very hard because when we score, we have to score that innocence, showing special qualities."

“We will choose based on what we see: whether you have a good voice, whether you are flexible in your language, and whether you have a meaningful script editing mindset. The best proof will be in each of your performances today,” said the representative of the jury.
