Coming to the 'million view' fishing village, visitors are surprised by the 3 thousand VND banh xeo and super cheap seafood

Phuoc Dong fishing village, also known as An Hai fishing village, formerly belonged to An Hoa Hai commune, Tuy An district, Phu Yen province, now O Loan commune, Dak Lak province.

In recent years, Phuoc Dong fishing village and Mai Nha Islet in O Loan have become destinations for tourists who love the rustic, wild beauty. Videos of the sunrise when boats and boats are bustling back to shore or the quiet Phuoc Dong fishing village at sunset have attracted millions of views on TikTok.

In the fishing village, homestays have appeared more frequently to serve the needs of tourists. But what tourists praise is that the village still retains its simplicity, not hastily commercialized, suitable for them to "escape the city, live slowly".

Male tourist Thua Hoa (27 years old, Bac Ninh) spent 4 days and 3 nights experiencing life in Phuoc Dong fishing village during his journey across provinces and cities in Vietnam. According to Hoa, this fishing village is not too far from famous tourist destinations in old Phu Yen such as Hon Yen, Bai Xep, Ganh Da Dia, Ong Cop wooden bridge... Therefore, tourists can combine their exploration schedule.

The young man spent 2 days "living slowly" in the fishing village instead of exploring many destinations. He rented a homestay located near the sea, with large glass windows, where he could watch the beautiful sunrise on the beach.

At 5am, without needing an alarm clock, Hoa woke up to the sound of fishermen calling each other to welcome boats full of fish and shrimp back to shore. Called a fishing port, the scale of operation of this place is not too large, mainly only locals or traders in the area, buying and distributing to restaurants and eateries.

"Seafood is caught at night and sold early in the morning. Tourists buy it right there, so it's fresh and cheap. I can ask the food vendors near the fish market to prepare it for me or bring it back to my homestay to prepare it myself," Hoa said.

Coming here, visitors should not miss the "flashing squid" dish - live, fresh squid with flashing dots on their bodies, bringing a delicious "taste of the ocean".

In the afternoon, the whole village gathered at the beach: adults untangled their nets, chatted, children flew kites, and played on swings. Hoa was absorbed in watching that peaceful, gentle scene.

Snack shops in the fishing village are "super cheap". Hoa was surprised when banh xeo was only 3,000-5,000 VND/piece, huge, while vermicelli and bread dishes cost 10,000-15,000 VND enough to fill her stomach. "In the evening, I will go to the beach to snack. With 50,000 VND, I have a full table of food. The food is simple but delicious, you can enjoy the cool breeze, and watch the vast ocean," Hoa said.

While Hoa came to Phuoc Dong fishing village in March, the low tourist season, the family of Chu Thi Thuy Thoa (36 years old, Hanoi) came to the village in July - the busiest time. However, the family of 6 members was still impressed by the peacefulness of this fishing village.

In the morning, they wake up early to watch the boats, choose to buy fresh seafood at "surprisingly cheap" prices, and bring it back to the homestay to have it cooked (cost 30,000 VND/person).

"After buying the squid and small shrimp, I took them to some banh xeo shops and asked the girls to help me make it. It was only 3,000 VND/piece, but it had enough raw vegetables to go with it and dipping sauce. The whole family enjoyed it and had to praise: This is the best seafood meal we've ever had," Thoa said.

From the fishing village, visitors can take a boat to Mai Nha Islet. Mai Nha Islet is about 1.2 square kilometers wide, a small, uninhabited island with crystal clear beaches and interestingly shaped rocks.

The overnight tour costs about 650,000 VND/adult, including canoe transfer, overnight tent, drinks, seafood dinner and breakfast, and SUP.

Tourists should note that Phuoc Dong is a local fishing village, just starting to do tourism, so you cannot expect too much from the services, instead you can immerse yourself in the pristine nature and simple people. The beach in the fishing village is quite steep, so tourists should consider swimming in the sea, not swimming too far from the shore to ensure safety.
