Lam Dong Aluminum overcomes difficulties and strives forward

Over the past 14 years, Lam Dong Aluminum Company has not only perfected its production and business processes to bring in profits. It has also been a journey of overcoming difficulties to master technology, optimize production lines and achieve many important achievements.

Through the inspection, Comrade Vu Hong Thanh - Vice Chairman of the National Assembly highly appreciated the results that Lam Dong Aluminum Company has achieved over the past 14 years.

Journey of more than 14 years

On August 19, Mr. Nguyen Van Phong - Director of Lam Dong Aluminum Company - TKV proudly reported to comrade Vu Hong Thanh - Member of the Party Central Committee, Vice Chairman of the National Assembly about the journey of more than 14 years of building and developing the enterprise.

The Lam Dong Bauxite-Alumina Complex Project was approved by the Politburo in the Resolution of the 10th Congress of the Communist Party of Vietnam . The project was implemented in June 2006 through 2 EPC contracts (Ore Selection Plant and Alumina Plant). The project also has a number of bidding packages and construction contracts for works and items outside the factory fence with a total investment of 15,414 billion VND.

The project started construction at the end of July 2008 and was put into trial operation at the end of 2012. From October 1, 2013, the project was officially handed over and put into commercial operation with 3 components, including: bauxite mining, ore dressing plant and alumina production plant complex. Of which, the alumina production line has a designed capacity of 650,000 tons/year. During the production process, the quality of alumina products always meets export standards. Alumina products are currently exported to the UAE (Middle East), India, Korea, Japan, Switzerland, etc.

To resolve difficulties related to land clearance and recovery and other shortcomings, Lam Dong Aluminum Company recommends that the Provincial People's Committee promptly complete the organizational structure, staff and operations of the Land Fund Development Center to contribute to accelerating the site clearance for the Lam Dong Bauxite - Aluminum project, ensuring ore sources for production. It is recommended that the Provincial Party Committee and Provincial People's Committee direct localities to support land allocation and leasing and maintain security and order, creating conditions for the project to operate stably and sustainably.

Under the direct guidance of TKV Group, the company has always focused on synchronously applying many solutions to improve production and business efficiency such as: implementing good management according to technical and economic norms in production stages; optimizing operating models; promoting computerization and automation in management and production... Thanks to that, the indicators of output, product quality, and main material consumption are increasingly achieving higher efficiency compared to the design.

Regarding the production results in the first 7 months of 2025, Mr. Nguyen Van Phong informed: “The exploitation of raw ore in 7 months reached 2,776,200 tons, equal to 64.6% of the plan; the converted alumina production reached 442,100 tons, equal to 68.0% of the plan. By the end of July, the company had consumed 407,500 tons of alumina, equal to 67.9% of the yearly plan; it is expected that in 2025, the alumina consumption output will reach 685,000 tons, equal to 114.2% of the plan. Thereby, the revenue in 7 months reached more than 2,255 billion VND, equal to 65.6% of the yearly plan; the expected revenue in 2025 will reach 3,845 billion VND, equal to 111.7% of the plan”.

Through production and business activities, Lam Dong Aluminum Company has achieved a profit of 75.4 billion VND in 7 months, equal to 228.5% of the 2025 plan. Currently, the entire Lam Dong Aluminum Company is creating stable jobs for 1,336 officers and employees. The current average income is 17.9 million VND/person/month.

Solving problems to ensure production activities

To complete the set targets, the unit has carried out a number of key tasks such as: coordinating with localities to carry out compensation and site clearance to ensure timely availability of sufficient area for exploitation; continuing to manage technology well, maintaining stable and effective operation of the entire complex's production lines; building an optimal operating model with alumina production output growing to over 2,150 tons/day.

The Director of Lam Dong Aluminum Company said that, in addition to the achieved results, the company is currently facing some difficulties related to land clearance for mining. In 2025, the company needs 50 hectares for mining, but currently only 2 hectares are left for mining. The company is implementing compensation and resettlement support at Tay Tan Rai mine according to the 5-year phase plan. Currently, the land clearance of phases 2 and 3, despite the participation of local authorities at all levels and the coordination and support of the Vietnam National Coal - Mineral Industries Group, still faces many obstacles, slow progress, and does not meet the mining area. If not promptly resolved, the project is at risk of interruption, directly affecting the production - business plan and political tasks of the Lam Dong Aluminum Bauxite Complex. “Therefore, we hope to receive support from Lam Dong Provincial People's Committee, relevant departments and branches of the province and Bao Lam 1 Commune People's Committee to continue to support the site clearance work to ensure sustainable development of production and business activities,” Mr. Phong suggested.

Through inspection and field survey, Comrade Vu Hong Thanh - Vice Chairman of the National Assembly highly appreciated the results that Lam Dong Aluminum Company - TKV has achieved in production and business activities in the past time. Thereby, he requested TKV Group to continue to thoroughly grasp and direct Lam Dong Aluminum Company to perform well its tasks to achieve and exceed the production and business plan set out in 2025. At the same time, focus on environmental protection, especially the mining environment; regularly inspect and evaluate the safety level of red mud reservoirs; perform well the work of occupational safety and hygiene; focus on taking care of the material and spiritual life of workers so that they can stick with the unit for a long time and contribute to the unit.

The Vice Chairman of the National Assembly requested the People's Committee of Lam Dong province and Bao Lam 1 commune to pay attention to and support Lam Dong Aluminum Company to effectively carry out the work of land clearance and recovery to ensure the area for ore exploitation. Thereby, promoting the advantage of Lam Dong province as the largest bauxite center in the country to make important contributions to the overall socio-economic development of the country and Lam Dong province.
