On September 5, along with more than 25 million students nationwide, Nguyen Van Thien (18 years old, residing in Dang Kang commune, Dak Lak province) attended the opening ceremony of the 2025-2026 school year at Tay Nguyen Polytechnic College and officially became a new student of the school.
In the middle of the school yard, Thien, wearing his school uniform, sat in the middle of other new students of the school because of his small body.

With his efforts to overcome difficulties and excel in his studies, new IT student Nguyen Van Thien received a full scholarship worth 39 million VND from Tay Nguyen Polytechnic College.
In addition to the meaningful scholarship, Thien was also provided with free dormitory accommodation by the school to support him during his time studying away from home.
Mr. Nguyen Thai Binh , Principal of Tay Nguyen Polytechnic College, said that the school learned about Thien's difficult circumstances and disadvantages through the press and the school discussed and expressed support for all tuition fees while he was studying at the school.
According to Mr. Binh, education is not only a path to knowledge, but also a journey of companionship, sharing and fostering dreams. With this humanitarian spirit, the school offers a full scholarship to Thien.

"This is not only a reward, but also an encouragement for you to continue on the path of conquering knowledge, asserting yourself and nurturing your ambitions," said the Principal of Tay Nguyen Polytechnic College.
Nguyen Van Thien was very happy and touched by the great affection from the school. Thien said that after completing the high school graduation exam, he wished to continue his studies in fashion design or information technology. However, when he saw his family's difficulties and his parents' hardships, he thought about stopping his studies.
"When I received the information that I would receive a full scholarship from Tay Nguyen Polytechnic College, I was very happy. I know that my physical condition is quite weak, studying away from home will have many difficulties, but I will be determined and try my best," Thien shared.

Previously, at the 2025 high school graduation exam, Nguyen Van Thien was mistaken by the exam supervisor for a lost elementary school student... because Thien was only 1m25 tall and weighed 22kg.
Thien's story of overcoming difficulties to go to school has made a strong impression and inspired many students.
