Mai Phuong: 'I have no regrets at Miss World'

Miss India Mai Phuong said she was satisfied with the final top 40 result, and felt more mature after the 71st Miss World .

One day after the final round of the competition, Mai Phuong said she still felt elated, remembering the moment her name was called into the top 40 and she won the Multimedia Challenge sub-award.

"The journey at Miss World stopped but I did not stop, continuing to develop the community project that I presented. I do not regret anything, on the contrary, I am happy because I learned many more things," Mai Phuong said.

She was happy with the victory of beauty Krystyna Pyszková, from the Czech Republic. For Mai Phuong, each contestant has made an effort, expressed their own identity, contributed to spreading humanitarian values, and aimed at the common spirit of the contest - "Beauty for a noble purpose".

Over the past three weeks, Mai Phuong said she has gained more life experience and made many new friends. Being in the top 25 of the Head to Head Challenge and presenting at the location chosen to host the G20 Summit is an honor for her.

In the first days in India, Mai Phuong cooked her own meals and invited the beauties to enjoy the prepared dishes. During side activities, she talked about Ao Dai, introduced the landscapes and Vietnamese music through the popular See Tinh dance. "I am proud when many friends say they want to soon set foot to explore more of the country and people of Vietnam," said the beauty queen.

What Mai Phuong cherishes is the love of her fans, who cheer her up during difficult times. The beauty queen once had a health problem that led to her dropping out of the talent competition, continuously failing to place in the top of important sub-contests, and being criticized by a part of the audience on social media. However, the beauty said she never thought of giving up or being discouraged because she felt a great source of encouragement.

The beauty queen, whose full name is Huynh Nguyen Mai Phuong, 24 years old, was crowned Miss World Vietnam 2022, receiving support from a large audience. She is 1.7 m tall, has measurements of 82-63-92 cm, an IELTS score of 8.0, and is studying at the University of Social Sciences and Humanities in Ho Chi Minh City. The beauty arrived in India on February 17 after more than a year of preparation, longer than previous Vietnamese contestants due to the competition being postponed and changing locations many times.

Miss World is one of the two most prestigious beauty pageants in the world, along with Miss Universe, first held in England in 1951. In the 71st edition, reigning beauty queen Karolina Bielawska crowned her successor - Krystyna Pyszková.

In the Miss World seasons, Miss Do My Linh was in the top 40, Luong Thuy Linh was in the top 12, Do Thi Ha was in the top 13. In 2015, Lan Khue was in the final top 11.
