The second time Vietnam volleyball team beat Thailand
Yesterday (July 18), the Vietnamese men's volleyball team had a very good match against the Thai team in the second round of the Southeast Asian Volleyball Championship (SEA V.League) held in Indonesia. Thailand is the defending SEA V.League champion and also the team that won the gold medal in the first round a week ago in the Philippines. That was the round in which the Thai team only lost 1 match, against the Vietnamese team. In the second round, Coach Tran Dinh Tien's students showed that they are the nemesis of their opponents. Pham Quoc Du, Nguyen Ngoc Thuan, Nguyen Van Quoc Duy were the 3 players who played impressively, helping the Vietnamese team take the lead twice against the Thai team. Those were both wins with convincing score differences. However, the mettle of the Thai team was shown in time when they successfully chased the game twice, equalizing the score to 2-2. Nguyen Ngoc Thuan and his teammates played brilliantly in the decisive game 5, thereby excellently defeating Thailand with a final score of 3-2.

Bich Thuy shines
Also yesterday, middle blocker Tran Thi Bich Thuy left her mark in the semi-final match of the Shanghai Future Stars International Friendly Volleyball Tournament, even though the Vietnamese women's volleyball team lost 2-3 to the U.21 Netherlands. Facing an opponent with superior physique and a modern style of play that created pressure right from the serve, the Vietnamese team was "unsettled". From there, the weaknesses of the Vietnamese team were revealed, such as loose defense, many first-step errors, and passivity in attack coordination.
In a stalemate, middle blocker Tran Thi Bich Thuy, who used to play in the Korean volleyball tournament, continuously showed her effectiveness in quick attacks. Bich Thuy's explosion helped the Vietnamese girls play more confidently. From there, Hoang Thi Kieu Trinh, Nguyen Thi Phuong, Nguyen Thi Uyen boldly attacked instead of just playing safe, not putting much pressure on the opponent. Thanks to that, the Vietnamese team "tore apart" the playing style of the U.21 Netherlands, winning games 2 and 3 to take the lead with a score of 2-1. Bich Thuy and the Vietnamese team continued to play impressively in game 4 but did not handle the opportunities well, so the U.21 Netherlands equalized the score 2-2, thereby raising their spirits and winning the decisive game 5 to win a ticket to the final match of the Shanghai Future Stars tournament, while the Vietnamese women's volleyball team competed for third place with U.21 Shanghai. With what she has shown through the matches taking place in China, Bich Thuy promises to be in the main squad of the Vietnamese women's volleyball team participating in upcoming important international tournaments such as SEA V.League, world championship, SEA Games.
