Video footage of the crash shows Captain Sabharwal and Clive Kundar, a co-pilot with 1,100 hours of experience, trying to raise the plane's nose before the tragedy occurred.

In addition to the victims on the plane, at least 50 people on the ground are believed to have been killed and many others injured after the plane crashed into the doctors' dormitory at the medical school, where doctors, students and staff were eating lunch in the school's cafeteria.

Authorities are still investigating the cause of the accident. Aviation experts have put forward two main theories about the cause of the tragedy, including that a flock of birds may have been sucked into the engine, causing it to shut down when it was most needed.
