Friendly match schedule of Vietnam women's volleyball team - Graphics: AN BINH
The first friendly match of the Vietnamese women's volleyball team was supposed to take place on the evening of August 16. However, their opponent Kenya had trouble traveling.
Therefore, the team's friendly match schedule was postponed by 1 day. On the evening of August 17, coach Nguyen Tuan Kiet's team will compete with Spain, a team from Europe with a squad of quality athletes.
Although not a country with a prominent volleyball background, Spain is still rated higher than the Vietnamese team. European representatives often compete and compete with strong teams in the world such as Italy, Poland, Turkey, Serbia, etc. Therefore, they have a lot of experience in the field.
On the contrary, the Vietnamese women's volleyball team does not have many such opportunities. In the Asian playground, they have also had a few times competing with volleyball nations such as China, Japan, Thailand, and Korea. However, the number of such matches is quite small.
Before coming to the Women's Volleyball World Championship, having a friendly match with a European team will be extremely valuable for coach Nguyen Tuan Kiet and his team.
In the next 2 days (August 18 and 19), the Vietnamese women's volleyball team will compete with the same opponent, Kenya. This is also the team in Group G with Thanh Thuy and her teammates.
In theory, Kenya's level is also higher as they are the 2023 African champions. Therefore, being able to "test" against a team in the same group is also a very good testing opportunity for the Vietnamese women's volleyball team.
