300-year-old vegetable village next to Vietnam's heritage proposed as world's best tourist village

This award is a global initiative of UNWTO, to honor villages where tourism plays an important role in preserving and promoting cultural values, products, and rural and community-based lifestyles.

At the same time, the award promotes innovation and sustainability, recognizing villages' contribution to sustainable development goals through tourism.

3km from the center of the old town, 50km from Tam Ky city and 25km from Da Nang , Tra Que vegetable village has a history of more than 300 years, famous for more than 40 types of special herbs, with strong, characteristic flavors such as onions, Vietnamese coriander, perilla, celery, coriander, etc.

Over the years, Tra Que has become an indispensable destination for international tourists when visiting Hoi An.

Tra Que is an agricultural village combined with community tourism, once recognized as a favorite tourist destination in Vietnam. Vegetable growing in Tra Que is also recognized as a National Intangible Cultural Heritage.

Visitors to Tra Que will discover the village's rich culture and history, and experience authentic farming life through the program "A day as a Tra Que farmer".

Here, visitors can participate in the traditional vegetable growing process, learn to cook, and enjoy dishes and drinks made from vegetables, tubers, fruits, and seeds grown according to safe, organic processes.

In addition, visitors can also work with the locals in the lush green gardens and stay at beautiful, airy and peaceful accommodations, interact with farmers through experiential programs such as "Learning to be a Tra Que farmer" and "Learning to cook", preparing dishes from vegetables harvested right in the garden.
