On August 18, the Vietnam Science Association and the International Center for Interdisciplinary Science and Education (ICISE) opened the “Vietnam Summer School on Artificial Intelligence and Quantum Computing” (VSAIQC) with the participation of nearly 50 scientists, young researchers, graduate students and students from 10 countries and territories around the world.

The event is sponsored by the French Embassy, within the framework of science and technology events of the France-Vietnam Innovation Year 2025.

“Vietnam Summer School on Artificial Intelligence and Quantum Computing” will provide in-depth lectures taught by a team of professors and experts from home and abroad, while creating an environment for students to practice through group projects, practical exercises and presentations of research results, focusing on providing a comprehensive and up-to-date view of the pioneering advances in artificial intelligence (AI) and quantum computing.

The school covers core content and the latest trends, from quantum mechanics with basic concepts of qubits and quantum gates, quantum technology foundations with ion and photon traps, to principles and applications of artificial intelligence, including natural language processing, generative AI and AI agents.

In addition, students also have access to knowledge about quantum algorithms, quantum computers applied in quantum chemistry, quantum simulation, as well as practice on specialized platforms and software packages such as Qaptiva and OpenVQE.

According to the Organizing Committee, in the context of artificial intelligence and quantum computing emerging as two dynamic research fields that promise to create revolutionary breakthroughs in computing technology and many key industries such as materials science, logistics, healthcare and finance, the Vietnam Summer School on artificial intelligence and quantum computing is organized to meet the urgent need for training high-quality human resources.

In fact, the remarkable achievements in drug discovery, cryptography and quantum communications in the past two decades have demonstrated the increasingly profound impact of these technologies on life. Such strong development requires a team of young intellectuals to be equipped with a solid knowledge base, sharp critical thinking and the ability to quickly adapt to new technological trends.

Mr. Denis Fourmeau, Attaché for Scientific Cooperation and Higher Education, French Embassy in Vietnam, said this is the first Summer School of its kind ever held in Vietnam.

The event has special symbolic significance and reflects the intensity of scientific relations at a time when Vietnam is entering a new era - an era of reform based on science, technology, innovation and digital transformation.

Deputy Director of the Department of Science and Technology of Gia Lai Province, Dr. Nguyen Huu Ha, said that the Vietnam Summer School on artificial intelligence and quantum computing was organized to meet the urgent need for training high-quality human resources. This is a special academic forum where students not only acquire advanced knowledge from prestigious professors and experts in the field but also directly practice, discuss and jointly develop new research ideas.

Dr. Nguyen Huu Ha also hopes that this Summer School will strongly inspire, expand international cooperation, and enhance research capacity for the young generation of scientists, so that they can contribute to new advances in science for the common benefit of the community and humanity.

On the same day, the International Center for Interdisciplinary Science and Education also opened the "International Conference: Flavor Physics" with the participation of nearly 60 scientists, young researchers, and graduate students from 18 countries and territories around the world.

Flavor physics is the study of the properties and interactions of quarks and leptons, including symmetry violation and rare decay mechanisms, one of the research focuses of the European Organization for Nuclear Research.

This year's conference has 56 scientific reports, presenting the latest research results in many specialized directions, including: Neutrino Physics, Charged Lepton Physics, K Physics, Beauty and Charm Physics, Phenomena beyond the Standard Model, Dark Region Physics, CP Symmetry Violation, Rare Decay.

In addition to the thematic reporting sessions, the conference also organized open discussion sessions to deeply analyze research results and expand future international cooperation directions.

Held every three years, the Conference plays an important role in connecting theoretical and experimental physicists, promoting global cooperation, expanding research networks, and contributing to new advances in fundamental physics for research worldwide.

Both events will end on August 23./.
