Over the past 24 years, many meaningful slogans have been chosen by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism as the theme for Vietnam Family Day (June 28) every year. And in the last 3 consecutive years, from 2023 to 2025, Vietnam Family Day has been chosen by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism with the same theme: "Happy Family - Prosperous Nation".
It is easy to understand, because to have a prosperous country, first of all, the people must be happy, the country's happiness index must be high. However, it is easy to say, but not easy to do at all.
The more society develops, the greater the pressure on the lives of each family, the greater the risk of breaking up. A recent survey shows that in some cities, 1 out of 3 married couples have broken up or are at risk of breaking up. Living alone or accepting to be a single mother is being chosen by many women to avoid family tragedy. Traditional families of three or four generations are gradually disappearing.
Furthermore, when faced with the risk of family breakdown, many people often find excuses to justify, while very few people perceive the problem correctly and proactively set up defensive "barriers" to protect their home.
One of the ways to warm up family affection after each day of work and study is the last meal of the day, but statistics show that in some urban areas, up to 40% of families often have members absent. Many people think that where to eat is not important as long as it is convenient. There are people who come home when their children are in bed and leave the house before they wake up.
Family happiness is not only a goal, but also a driving force for each individual's awareness and action. Each individual must be aware that the family is a place to return to, to take refuge when we are sad, where members laugh together when we are happy, and to protect and share when we encounter unexpected events. Family is above all and also needs the most attention and protection. Not only should we consider activities and recommendations on Vietnamese Family Day as a scheduled event, but this is also an opportunity to honor the values of Vietnamese families, and more importantly, an opportunity for each person to look back at their family and themselves to see what they have done and what needs to be done next. The relevant agencies should re-evaluate the achievements in building a family lifestyle and what difficulties remain.
The fact that for the third consecutive year the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism has chosen the slogan “Happy Family - Prosperous Nation” as the theme for Vietnamese Family Day shows a steadfast and very clear goal. What is needed is for each of us to take concrete actions to make that a reality soon.
