As Station Chief, Major Thanh directly directed and commanded the Inspection and Supervision Team, the Procedure Team and other professional forces of the Station. He always closely followed the directives of his superiors to synchronously and comprehensively deploy border work measures; excellently completing the assigned tasks, goals and work targets of the unit.

In his professional work, Major Thanh always upholds the sense of responsibility, strictly implementing the inspection and control procedures for XNC and means of transporting import and export goods through the border gate. Under his direction, officers and soldiers at the Station have closely coordinated with customs and police forces to strictly control people, vehicles and goods passing through the border gate.

One of the highlights of his achievements is the fight against crime, smuggling, trade fraud and counterfeit goods. He always thoroughly grasps and promptly implements the instructions of his superiors to 100% of the officers and soldiers in the unit; at the same time, he builds plans and arranges reasonable forces to grasp the situation and strictly manage the area and subjects.

In 2024 and the first months of 2025, under the command of Major Thanh, the Station fought and arrested 2 cases/2 subjects illegally transporting 140,000 yuan (CNY) across the border; coordinated with Mong Cai International Border Gate Customs to arrest 2 cases/2 subjects illegally transporting 130,885,500 CNY and 100,735,000 VND; detected and handled 24 cases/24 subjects illegally crossing the border; rescued 1 victim who was tricked into being sold to China and arrested 4 subjects with wanted warrants.

In particular, with accurate assessments of economic crime activities, he advised the Station Command to request policies and develop plans to fight and successfully arrest a subject who illegally transported 4kg of gold across the border on April 17, 2025. After the results of the appraisal and investigation, the case was prosecuted for the act of "Illegal transportation of goods across the border".

Not only completing his professional tasks well, Major Thanh also actively participated in social activities, contributing to building military-civilian solidarity at the border. He and his teammates organized meaningful programs: "Talented Young Soldiers", "Border Lessons" for schools in the area, helping students have useful experiences and raising awareness of national sovereignty . He also participated in cultural and sports activities; supported and donated "Charity Houses" to households in difficult circumstances.

With his achievements, in 2024, he was recognized as a Basic Emulation Fighter, receiving many certificates of merit from the Provincial Border Guard Command (now the Provincial Border Guard Command), the former People's Committee of Mong Cai City, and the Party Committee of Mong Cai International Border Guard Station. His outstanding and unexpected achievements in the case of seizing 4kg of gold were proposed by Mong Cai International Border Guard Station to the Prime Minister for a Certificate of Merit.

Major Nguyen Van Thanh is a shining example of courage, intelligence, determination to fight crime, dedication, responsibility to work and the community; contributing to maintaining national border security and sovereignty, effectively fighting all types of crimes on the border and at border gates.
