The Economic , Infrastructure and Urban Department of Hoi An Tay Ward said that due to the impact of strong winds and large waves from July 28 to 29, the coastal area in Tan Thanh block continued to experience landslides. The landslide area is outside the area where people have reinforced the embankment with geotextile bags. The landslide is moving inward and creating a vertical wall with a height of 4-5m adjacent to the business area of the people.

During the field inspection, the working group and the investor of the Hoi An coastal erosion prevention and sustainable protection project, the Quang Nam Construction Investment Project Management Board (under the Da Nang City People's Committee) and related parties, said that the eroded coast is located at the C7 feeding ground in package 2 of the project. The C7 feeding ground has not yet been constructed (by pumping sand to create the ground). The results of the field measurements show that the terrain has changed in elevation compared to the approved design; the current state of C7 ground is severely eroded.

Faced with the above situation, the working group requested the investor to direct the contractor to urgently gather materials, human resources and equipment to carry out construction according to the schedule approved by the investor and the signed contract, ensuring the completion plan in 2025. Updating the volume, design documents, construction drawings, and construction progress is under the investor's authority. The investor needs to develop a response plan in case of unusual situations to ensure the protection of the constructed works and existing infrastructure in the area before completing the construction.

Mr. Le Tu Khanh, Head of Project Management Department II (Quang Nam Construction Investment Project Management Board) said that the relevant parties have agreed to assign the design consultant to base on the current measurement data, update the construction design documents in accordance with the actual terrain, recalculate the increased - decreased volume (if any) and have solutions and technical instructions for construction to ensure safety and efficiency for the project. No later than August 12, 2025, the design consultant will submit to the investor as a basis for adjustment and approval.

The contractor urgently gathered materials, human resources and equipment to carry out sand pumping to restore C7 beach to avoid widespread erosion. In the immediate future, priority will be given to pumping sand in the area with strong erosion in the northern beach of the project (An Bang beach area) before the 2025 storm season.
