On September 13, according to the news from the Transport Project Management Board of Ba Ria - Vung Tau province, the unit is currently speeding up the related procedures to deploy the connecting road to Bien Hoa - Vung Tau expressway. It is expected that construction of this project will start in October.
This road of over 13,000 billion will connect to the highway right at the QL56 intersection.
All three localities including Ba Ria city, Long Dien district, and Vung Tau city are focusing on site clearance to serve the project.
Of which, Ba Ria city completed about 80% of site clearance; Long Dien district basically 100%; Vung Tau city reached nearly 2/3.
The connecting road to Bien Hoa - Vung Tau expressway has a total length of 15.7km and includes 3 component projects.
In which, component project 1 extends from the QL56 intersection to the Vung Van intersection with a length of 6.7km, designed according to the standards of an elevated urban highway with a speed of 100km/h, a scale of 4 expressway lanes and 2 emergency lanes.
The total investment of the project is over 6,700 billion VND, passing through Ba Ria city and Long Dien district. The provincial budget allocates about 1,900 billion VND from the capital source for implementing medium-term public investment in the period of 2021-2025, the rest will be arranged after 2025.
The PMU is selecting a contractor to review the design and estimate and coordinate with the owners to conduct an inventory to relocate the technical infrastructure. This section is expected to start construction in October and will be completed and put into operation in the fourth quarter of 2026.
Authorities have been working tirelessly to speed up site clearance.
Component project 2, the section from Vung Van intersection to coastal road 994 is over 6.8km long, designed according to low-rise urban expressway standards.
The expressway section has a design speed of 100km/h, is 27m wide with 4 expressway lanes and 2 emergency lanes. The total investment of the project is about more than 5,100 billion VND.
Of this amount, the provincial budget will allocate about VND1,000 billion from the capital source for medium-term public investment in the period of 2021-2025. The remaining amount will be allocated after 2025. Investment is expected from 2023-2027.
Component project 3, the section from the 994 coastal road intersection to the 51B, 51C roundabout intersection through Vung Tau city, with a total investment of nearly 2,000 billion VND, will be implemented in the 2024-2028 period.
The total length of this section is about 2.87km, with a cross-section width of 67m, including the main urban road with a scale of 6 lanes, a design speed of 80km/h and parallel roads on both sides, each side has a scale of 2 lanes.
In addition to building the expressway according to urban road standards, this project will have 3 bridges on the route including Co May 3 bridge, Cay Khe 4 bridge and an overpass at the 994 coastal road intersection.
People in Vung Tau city are receiving compensation to support the highway connection project.
To implement the project, Ba Ria - Vung Tau province has also established three steering committees headed by the Secretary and Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee.
According to the leaders of Ba Ria - Vung Tau province, the road connecting to Bien Hoa - Vung Tau expressway is of special importance to socio -economic development, ensuring convenient traffic and trade.
Breaking the long-standing monopoly of National Highway 51, connecting Vung Tau with localities outside the province.
Mr. Hoang Vu Thanh, Chairman of Vung Tau City People's Committee, said that the road connecting to Bien Hoa - Vung Tau Expressway is very important for the city's socio-economic development.
Therefore, the city leaders hope that people will agree and create conditions for early handover of land to open major roads and connect localities.
