Survey of facilities of Soc Trang Provincial Library (old)

(CTO) - Ms. Dao Thi Thanh Thuy, Deputy Director of the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Can Tho City, recently visited the facilities of the old Soc Trang Provincial Library. Accompanying her were leaders of units under the Department.

The Soc Trang Provincial Library headquarters was put into use in mid-October 2003, consisting of 3 floors with 3 interconnected blocks. After more than 20 years of operation, the Soc Trang Provincial Library headquarters has many degraded areas, affecting the exploitation and organization of professional activities of the unit.

Ms. Dao Thi Thanh Thuy spoke at the meeting.

Regarding professional work, Soc Trang Provincial Library has made many efforts in supplementing and processing books and newspapers; information and propaganda; applying information technology in library activities. In particular, the unit also effectively implemented the work of serving readers. In the first 8 months of the year, Soc Trang Provincial Library issued 1,045 library cards; serving at the Library, mobile services and accessing the library's electronic information page was 135,465 people, with 321,722 information resources.

The delegation surveyed the facilities at the Library.

The delegation is expected to continue their survey at Hau Giang Provincial Library in the next few days.

The survey aims to assess the current situation and record proposals and recommendations to serve as a basis for orienting Can Tho City Library (after the merger) to operate effectively.
