On the opening day, 120 booths of start-ups presented a vivid picture of innovation in Ho Chi Minh City. At the SIHUB building, from the 1st to the 3rd floor are reserved for programs managed and supported by the State, from the 4th to the 7th floor is the area gathering venture capital funds, technology corporations and incubators from home and abroad.
Putting SIHUB into operation is a strategic step to realize Resolution 57 of the Politburo on developing science, technology and innovation.
According to Mr. Lam Dinh Thang - Director of the Department of Science and Technology of Ho Chi Minh City: "This center will connect the creative startup ecosystem of Ho Chi Minh City, including connecting domestic and foreign investment funds, very convenient for international financial connections. The startup ecosystem will become more and more potential with the inauguration of this building and the policies of Ho Chi Minh City that will be promoted in the coming time to create favorable conditions for the startup community".
Emphasizing that Ho Chi Minh City has a large science and technology foundation with 97 universities, colleges and more than 450 research organizations, more than 2,000 startups, accounting for nearly 50% of the total number of startups nationwide, Vice Chairwoman of Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee Tran Thi Dieu Thuy assigned SIHUB and schools to connect domestic and foreign resources to build SIHUB into a place to test new policies, removing barriers for startups.
