Speaking at the opening ceremony of VIDW 2024, Minister of Information and Communications Nguyen Manh Hung emphasized: AI is the core technology of the fourth industrial revolution. It is like the steam engine of the first industrial revolution, the generator of the second industrial revolution and the personal computer of the third industrial revolution.
Vietnam has and will continue to prioritize promoting regional and international cooperation initiatives in the fields of digital technology and digital economy, in which priority will be given to cooperation programs on AI, and the development and use of virtual assistants.
Vietnam is drafting a law to recognize the fundamental principles of AI and that it is to serve human prosperity and happiness, ensuring transparency and explainability, accountability, fairness and non-discrimination.

"Virtual assistants have been developed and exploited quite successfully in many countries. In this year's International Digital Week program, we will have the opportunity to directly exchange, share and discuss with ministers, representatives of management agencies of countries, international organizations, consulting companies, and leading businesses in this field," said Minister Nguyen Manh Hung.
The annual International Digital Week will be an opportunity for national management agencies, international organizations, associations, and global digital businesses to discuss, share, and establish digital partnerships, joining hands to build a sustainable digital world.
VIDW 2024 marks the largest-ever organization, with 12 official events and side events, expected to attract more than 600 domestic and international delegates, including leaders of state management agencies from nearly 30 countries, representatives of international organizations and leading technology enterprises...
VIDW 2024 focuses on exchanging, discussing, and sharing good practices, new approaches and initiatives to expand cooperation among countries, organizations, and businesses on promoting AI development and virtual assistant deployment, with priority topics such as virtual assistant applications (TLA), artificial intelligence (AI) governance, Open RAN, legal framework for 5G, digital infrastructure development and digital human resources, etc.

Within the framework of VIDW 2024, the plenary session is a roundtable event for Government representatives, international organizations and industry leaders to exchange views, enhance cooperation and promote partnerships between Vietnamese businesses and global stakeholders.

In addition to activities with the theme "Virtual Assistant", from November 19-22, the Ministry of Information and Communications will coordinate with ASEAN countries, Korea, Australia, the United States and international organizations such as ITU, OECD to organize specialized forums with different topics: International Forum on Digital Strategy, Policy and AI Governance; ASEAN Information Officers Conference (SOMRI); Vietnam - Korea Digital Transformation Forum; Vietnam - ITU Conference on AI Governance and AI Applications in Industrial Fields and organize the Southeast Asia Hackathon competition...
As planned, VIDW 2024 will take place from November 19-22.
