Three Quang Tri farmers are "Outstanding Vietnamese Farmers" and "Farmers' Scientists" in 2025

QTO - According to the results just announced by the Central Committee of the Vietnam Farmers' Union, in the list of 63 farmers voted and honored as "Outstanding Vietnamese Farmers" and 32 "Farmer Scientists" in 2025, Quang Tri province has 3 farmers honored to receive these titles.

Accordingly, Mr. Be Van Mai (Nam Trach commune) and Mr. Dang Tho (Ai Tu commune) were voted as "Outstanding Vietnamese Farmers"; Mr. Nguyen Dang Vuong (Vinh Linh commune) was voted as "Farmer Scientist ".

Vice Chairman of the Provincial Fatherland Front Committee, Chairman of the Provincial Farmers' Association Tran Tien Sy said that these are three outstanding and exemplary examples, constantly striving to improve the economy , supporting many people to escape poverty, contributing to spreading the movement of farmers competing in production and good business in the province in recent times.

Farmer Be Van Mai (born in 1960) in Nam Trach commune is known as a pioneer farmer in the emulation movement of good production and business. He started his business in the early 90s with a 15-hectare rubber farm. From 2002-2013, when the "white gold" area was exploited, Mr. Mai's family had a revenue of billions of dong each year.

However, in 2013, consecutive storms devastated Mr. Mai's family's rubber garden. Along with that, the price of rubber latex continuously "hit rock bottom", combined with the increase in fertilizer prices, causing Mr. Mai's family to fall into poverty. Not giving up in the face of difficulties, since 2015, Mr. Mai has converted the rubber garden into a citrus garden. Up to now, Mr. Mai's family has 6 hectares of oranges and 1 hectare of lemons grown according to the process, with an annual revenue of 2.4-2.6 billion VND.

Along with Mr. Mai, Mr. Dang Tho (born in 1963), Director of Manh Trieu One Member Co., Ltd. (Ai Tu commune) currently owns 300 hectares of acacia trees and 20 hectares of rubber trees. Over the years, the company has planted forests that meet FSC standards and applied science and technology to planting, caring for and harvesting rubber to ensure quality and high economic efficiency.

In 2024, Mr. Tho's family exploited 50 hectares of cajuput trees and collected latex from 20 hectares of rubber, earning a profit of 1.3 billion VND, after deducting expenses. Along with that, the company's wood processing factory has a capacity of 6,000m3 of wood/year, revenue of 20 billion VND, profit of 2 billion VND/year. In addition, the company also creates jobs for 50 regular workers, 100 seasonal workers with an average income of 8 million VND/person/month.

Meanwhile, farmer Dang Van Vuong (born in 1983), Director of Tay Son Clean Agriculture Cooperative (Vinh Linh commune) was voted as "Scientist of farmers" in 2025 with the project "Successfully producing the product "Tay Son mixed microbial feed" from agricultural products and by-products for livestock farming".

As the Director of the Cooperative, Mr. Dang Van Vuong is always concerned and looking for scientific and technological solutions applied in the organic agricultural production of the Cooperative to suit the province's orientation on promoting organic agricultural production, natural farming, circular agriculture, high-tech agriculture, and linking according to the value chain of agricultural products.

Since 2021, Mr. Dang Van Vuong has successfully researched the formula for fermenting fish protein as raw material and combining it with other raw materials from agricultural products, agricultural by-products and applying microbial preparations to create a mixed microbial feed product as a nutritious food source for livestock farming.

By 2022, he and Tay Son Clean Agriculture Cooperative had applied technical advances in machinery, technological equipment, and packaging to produce the product "Tay Son Microbiological Mixed Feed". In addition, Mr. Vuong also actively researched and applied microbial preparations in production and brought about quite good results, creating a large amount of organic fertilizer for agricultural production. Mr. Dang Van Vuong's "inventions" have been widely applied by Quang Tri farmers in production and business, bringing high economic efficiency, contributing to soil improvement and sustainable environmental protection.
