QTO - In order to avoid damage caused by floods and ensure summer-autumn rice productivity in 2025, these days, taking advantage of favorable weather, farmers across the province are urgently going to the fields to harvest summer-autumn rice.

According to the Department of Crop Production and Plant Protection, this summer-autumn crop, the whole province has planted over 38,932 hectares of rice, the rice is in the milky ripe, waxy ripe stage, and ready for harvest. Up to now, the whole province has harvested nearly 15,000 hectares, of which, some localities are about to complete, such as: Quang Trach, Trung Thuan, Hoa Trach, Phu Trach, Bac Gianh, Nam Gianh, Nam Ba Don... The summer-autumn rice yield is estimated at 55-58 quintals/ha, equivalent to the 2024 summer-autumn crop; the price of fresh rice sold at the field is from 5,300-5,500 VND/kg.

Head of the Department of Crop Production and Plant Protection Bui Phuoc Trang said: Currently entering the rainy season, the weather situation is complicated, in the coming time, there may be heavy rain causing flooding, affecting summer-autumn crops, especially rice areas in low-lying areas. In order to limit damage to crops, the Department of Agriculture and Environment has issued a document requesting localities to direct, guide, and encourage farmers to mobilize human resources and means to quickly harvest summer-autumn rice and other summer-autumn crops with the motto "green at home is better than ripe in the fields".

In addition, for the late summer-autumn rice area that has not been harvested, people need to prepare plans and mobilize machinery, reinforce dykes and pump water in time to prevent flooding in areas that are prone to flooding when rain and floods occur.
