Connecting sea and forest, Lam Dong needs to "redraw" the tourism map

Lam Dong province currently has three ecological regions - highlands, midlands and coastal areas.

Convergence of potential and advantages

The most recognizable feature of Lam Dong's new development is tourism. Dr. Pham S, author of many books on agriculture and tourism, said that the new Lam Dong province converges three regions with distinct characteristics: Lam Dong (old) is famous for its cool climate, poetic landscapes and has long been a top destination on the domestic and international tourism map; Binh Thuan (old) has 192 km of coastline and famous tourist destinations such as Mui Ne, Phan Thiet, or Phu Quy Island, bringing the attraction of the sea and unique Cham culture; Dak Nong (old) with UNESCO Global Geopark and Ta Dung Lake, likened to Ha Long Bay in the Central Highlands, is a place where the wild beauty of mountains and forests and Mnong culture converge. "This convergence opens up opportunities to combine potentials, advantages and create a diverse tourism value chain from the highlands to the sea," Dr. Pham S analyzed.

In the vast Lam Dong region, there is a rich and diverse forest ecosystem, such as Ta Dung National Park and Nam Nung Nature Reserve, suitable for eco-tourism and resort models.

In the “core” area of Lam Dong with thousands of flowers this season, on the roads leading to tourist areas and spots, there are lines of cars following each other. Mr. Dinh Tuan Anh, Director of TTC World - Valley of Love, Lam Vien Ward - Da Lat said: “Tourism in the land of thousands of flowers is very vibrant, possibly due to the good connection of tours, routes in the region and within the province, creating attraction”.

In the blue sea area of Lam Dong, Doi Duong, Phu Hai, Mui Ne beaches, Novaworld Phan Thiet economic urban area of sea tourism and entertainment are crowded on weekends; all boats to Phu Quy island are full.

Ms. Le Thu Uyen, a tourist from Dong Nai, said: “Lam Dong now has all the levels of sea-forest, plain-plateau and climate conditions. My family decided to travel to this land to swim in the sea, see flowers, experience waterfalls, lakes and beautiful natural scenery.”

Notably, Dak Nong UNESCO Global Geopark, spanning over 4,700 km2, is home to unique and typical values of culture, geology, geomorphology, paleontology, and a system of pristine and mysterious caves. 41 heritage sites have been built here, with three main tourist routes including: “Epic of Fire and Water”, “Symphony of the New Wind”, “Echoes from the Earth”; bringing visitors new and exciting experiences and discoveries about the “land of melodies”.

Lam Dong also owns heritages such as the Central Highlands Gong Cultural Space, Nguyen Dynasty Woodblocks, LangBiang World Biosphere Reserve; two national tourist areas of Tuyen Lam Lake and Mui Ne...

Chairman of Lam Dong Provincial People's Committee Ho Van Muoi said that in terms of geographical advantage, the province has tourism strengths that few localities have with two major tourist centers, Da Lat and Phan Thiet, along with the Ta Dung Lake tourist destination that is starting to become famous, Dak Nong UNESCO Global Geopark, agricultural tourism, forest tourism, etc.

From identifying potential and advantages, it is necessary to find the right path, combining regional strengths to build and develop the tourism brand of Lam Dong of thousands of flowers, Lam Dong of blue sea, Lam Dong of great forests, creating unique tourism products to attract tourists.

Need to "redraw" the tourism map

With its range of forests and seas, beautiful natural landscapes, and colorful ethnic cultures, Lam Dong has created diverse and unique tourism resources.

Professor, Dr. Mai Trong Nhuan, former Director of Hanoi National University, said that by promoting the advantages of natural conditions, natural resources, culture, history, especially the diverse culture from the cultural foundation of the Central Highlands, Cham and Vietnamese ethnic groups, Lam Dong will affirm its position in tourism, becoming a beautiful and humane destination, a health "charging station" for tourists. The important thing now is to plan and "redraw" a reasonable tourism map for this land rich in tourism resources.

Currently, the province has 4,217 tourist accommodation establishments with a total of more than 66,000 rooms; 126 travel agencies, 1,059 tour guides; 99 tourist areas and attractions, of which 30 have been recognized by the province; 38 service establishments meeting standards for tourists; 500 tourism projects, of which 293 projects are in operation.

In recent times, the province has focused on investing, exploiting and diversifying tourism types and products, contributing to enhancing the attractiveness of destinations and meeting the increasing demands of domestic and foreign tourists. However, Lam Dong needs to develop a strategic tourism development plan, promoting the potential and strengths of each region.

Lam Dong Provincial Party Secretary Y Thanh Ha Nie Kdam said that in the new development stage, the province has identified green-smart tourism as a key industry. The entire blue sea-forest-flower, ecological-cultural-community tourism space of Lam Dong will be developed synchronously, gradually modernized, associated with the preservation of heritage and unique cultural characteristics, creating impressions, satisfaction and enhancing the experience for tourists.
