Provincial journalists continue to connect with the glorious tradition, the tradition of previous journalists to foster love for the homeland and country.
Vietnamese revolutionary press
In late 1924, upon returning to Guangzhou (China), Nguyen Ai Quoc immediately began preparing to publish a political newspaper to propagate the revolution. At the same time, he opened training classes for elite youths from within the country to become the core force for the movement later on.
In a small attic in the central business district of Guangzhou - which was also the headquarters of the Vietnam Revolutionary Youth Association, Nguyen Ai Quoc and his students published the Thanh Nien newspaper, the official mouthpiece of the organization. The newspaper was small in size (19x13cm), published weekly, each issue had 2-4 pages, with many sections such as editorials, comments, women, poetry, questions and answers...
The newspaper was printed on wax paper and secretly sent to Vietnam. At home, revolutionary bases hand-copied, copied, and passed around to read and widely distributed. The first issue of Thanh Nien Newspaper was published on June 21, 1925, opening a new line of journalism: Vietnamese revolutionary journalism.
In nearly 90 issues, Thanh Nien Newspaper completed its important historical mission: propagating Marxism-Leninism, propagating the platform, strategy and tactics of the Vietnamese revolution, calling for solidarity in the struggle for national independence. The newspaper actively contributed to the theoretical, ideological and organizational preparation, laying the foundation for the birth of the Communist Party of Vietnam in 1930.
100 years of journalism
“We are standing at a very important milestone. That is the 100th anniversary of Vietnam Revolutionary Press Day. Exactly a century ago, in 1925, President Ho Chi Minh founded Thanh Nien newspaper. Since then, under the training of the Party, beloved Uncle Ho and Party committees and authorities at all levels, the Vietnamese revolutionary spirit has continuously grown and matured, making very important contributions to the revolutionary cause of the Party,” said Tran Thanh Lam, Standing Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee.
According to the Standing Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee Tran Thanh Lam, the province has many outstanding journalists, famous writers, and even generations of journalists in the past and present. Journalists in the province continue to connect with the glorious tradition, the tradition of previous journalists to foster love for the homeland and country, fulfilling the mission of journalists. Journalists are truly worthy of Uncle Ho's teachings: The press is a front; Journalists are revolutionary soldiers.
That makes us more proud, more honored and must try harder to fulfill the responsibility of journalists towards our homeland and country today. In particular, we must reflect the Party's guidelines and policies, the State's policies and laws to the majority of cadres, Party members and people of all walks of life, creating consensus, creating trust, and being a bridge between the Party's will and the people's hearts. So that all the Party's guidelines and policies and laws of the State are supported by the people and implemented effectively.
Especially, at the present time, when our country enters a new era of development, an era of national growth, the task of the press becomes even more difficult and glorious. When the very important tasks such as: streamlining, organizing the apparatus to improve efficiency, effectiveness, and efficiency, then we will do the work of socio-economic development to grow more, build the Party, build an increasingly strong political system, maintain security and order in the area.
Standing Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee Tran Thanh Lam shared: “I believe that at the present time, journalists and journalists of the province in particular and journalists nationwide will demonstrate their feelings and responsibilities to join the Party Committee, government and people in determining to successfully implement the goals set by the province and the Party Committee. Strive to build Ben Tre, the heroic homeland of Dong Khoi, to become increasingly rich, civilized, affectionate and prosperous, firmly entering a new era, an era of national growth”.
