There are a total of eight and a half tickets for Asia at the 2026 World Cup. The first six official tickets were awarded directly to the group winners and runners-up in the third qualifying round - which ended early this morning. They are Iran, Uzbekistan, South Korea, Jordan, Japan and Australia.
With the inability to beat Australia, Saudi Arabia settled for 3rd place in Group C. And they will join Indonesia (4th) in the 4th qualifying round, for the 3rd and 4th placed teams of each group.
Apart from Indonesia and Saudi Arabia, the remaining teams participating in this qualifying stage are UAE, Qatar, Iraq and Oman.
The 6 teams will be divided into 2 groups of 3 teams each. The groups will compete in a round-robin format, and the top 2 teams in each group will win the last 2 official tickets from Asia to the 2026 World Cup.
The second-placed teams will still have a chance. The two second-placed teams will continue to face each other for a ticket to the intercontinental play-off round.
Here, they will face opponents from Africa, South America, Oceania and North Central America - Caribbean (2 teams), competing to win the last 2 tickets to the 2026 World Cup.
