The workshop "From digital transformation to artificial intelligence transformation - solutions for businesses and workforce" organized by Ho Chi Minh City Digital Transformation Center, AI Education and Science and Development newspaper took place at Hong Bang University on June 17.
Here, delegates discussed the opportunities and challenges when applying AI in Ho Chi Minh City in particular and Vietnam in general, and emphasized the importance of training in digital transformation as well as AI transformation to serve the requirements of economic and social development.
Mr. Nguyen Thanh Hoa - Deputy Director of the Ho Chi Minh City Digital Transformation Center - said that the city is facing very historic opportunities. After merging with Ba Ria - Vung Tau and Binh Duong, Ho Chi Minh City has an area of over 7,000km2 with a population of over 11 million people.
In such a context, digital transformation and artificial intelligence transformation are mandatory tasks, promoting digital transformation and artificial intelligence transformation, creating an important foundation for economic and social development.
According to Mr. Hoa, to implement the transformation of artificial intelligence, Ho Chi Minh City needs to implement all three issues.
That is to promote international cooperation and share experiences to shorten time, create new business models, new values; coordinate to provide training solutions for digital skills and capacity for civil servants, public employees, people...; coordinate with technology companies with experience in the field of artificial intelligence to bring AI solutions to each field... In which, training AI for people and businesses is extremely important.

With practical experience in making AI a national development strategy, Mr. Sengmeng Koo - Director of AI Talent Development (AI Singapore) - said that Singapore began to make AI a strategic development position since 2017. In the process from then until now, they have discovered the importance of AI training to help people and businesses develop and go far in applying AI to production life.
"We have opened 6-month and 9-month training courses, supporting students in their fields of study and also in AI. After 6 months and 9 months, we have provided excellent human resources for businesses in developing production in this era of artificial intelligence. This is what I want to emphasize to Vietnam when it wants to succeed in artificial intelligence transformation," Mr. Sengmeng Koo shared.
AI training in Vietnamese for Vietnamese workers
At the workshop, the "AI Opportunities in Asia-Pacific (under AVPN)" project officially launched the initiative "bringing AI closer to Vietnamese workers and businesses". Accordingly, Google, Al Singapore and the Ho Chi Minh City Digital Transformation Center will cooperate strategically to realize the goal of training 72,000 workers, including 15,000 medical staff, to promote comprehensive and equitable AI transformation in Vietnam.
These are AI training programs in Vietnamese that are designed to be practical and easily accessible to many workers.
