Cancel 4 flights to Hai Phong due to storm No. 3

Vietnam Airlines canceled at least 7 flights, including 4 flights between Ho Chi Minh City and Hai Phong on July 21 due to the impact of storm No. 3.

Due to the impact of Typhoon Wipha in China, Vietnam Airlines said it will cancel 4 flights VN1188, VN7188, VN7189, VN7056, VN7057 between Ho Chi Minh City and Hai Phong; VN1856, VN1857 between Ho Chi Minh City and Con Dao on July 21.

Pacific Airlines will adjust the departure time of flights BL6440 and BL6441 between Ho Chi Minh City and Hai Phong earlier than planned to ensure take-off and landing time at Cat Bi Airport (Hai Phong) before 12 noon. The airline will also cancel flights BL6520 and BL6521 on this route during the day.

On July 22, Vietnam Airlines Group flights operating at Cat Bi airport will depart after 12:00. In addition, many domestic and international flights on July 21-22 will be affected by storm Wipha.

Vietjet Air also canceled 8 flights to and from Quang Ninh and Hai Phong on July 21. These are two flights VJ232 and VJ233 between Van Don and Ho Chi Minh City, 3 flights VJ290, VJ1278, VJ1284 between Ho Chi Minh City - Hai Phong; 3 flights VJ291, VJ1275, VJ1285 between Hai Phong and Ho Chi Minh City.

Airlines advise that flight times may continue to be adjusted depending on the storm's developments, and passengers should stay updated with information from the airline. Passengers should fasten their seat belts throughout the flight, especially in complex weather conditions, to help minimize the risk of air turbulence.

The Civil Aviation Authority of Vietnam has requested units in the industry to deploy response measures to ensure absolute safety for aviation activities and passengers, and organize 24/7 duty.

Vietnam Airports Corporation (ACV) and Van Don Airport are required to conduct a comprehensive inspection of airport infrastructure and communication systems to promptly detect and handle any damage, if any, to ensure safety for works and stations.

At 6:00 a.m. on July 21, the storm center was about 233 km east of Quang Ninh - Hai Phong, with the strongest wind at level 9, gusting to level 11, moving west-southwest at a speed of about 15-20 km/h.

It is forecasted that by 7pm on July 21, the storm will be in the northern part of the Gulf of Tonkin, with the strongest winds at level 11-12, gusting to level 15, and moving west-southwest at a speed of 20-25 km/h. By 7pm on July 22, the storm will be at level 9-10, gusting to level 12, on the mainland along the coast of Hai Phong - Thanh Hoa, then moving inland and weakening into a tropical depression.

At Cat Bi airport at 6am today, July 21, there was light rain, fog, visibility 2.5 km, Van Don airport (Quang Ninh) had heavy rain, visibility 2.5 km, Tho Xuan airport (Thanh Hoa) had light wind, light rain.
