On August 24, Nghe An Provincial Youth Union in collaboration with Nghe Chess Club organized the first Nghe An Provincial Youth and Children's Chess Tournament in 2025. The tournament attracted more than 560 young players from inside and outside the province.
The 1st Nghe An Province Open Chess Tournament for Youth and Children in 2025 is a special tournament aiming to celebrate the 80th anniversary of the National Day of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam (September 2, 1945 - September 2, 2025); welcoming the new school year. The tournament is organized to create an intellectual and useful playground for students on the occasion of the beginning of the new school year, helping them have the opportunity to exchange, practice logical thinking and healthy sports competition skills.
The activity not only creates a healthy and useful playground for exchange and learning, but also arouses passion for chess. This is also an opportunity to discover and nurture young talents, contributing to promoting the chess movement among school-age children in the whole province.
Participating in the tournament, the contestants compete in two categories: Rapid Chess (each player has 15 minutes to complete the game) and 8-game Swiss system.
The tournament is divided into 14 competition groups including: Age group U8 - Female, U10 - Female, U12 - Female, Open Female, U5 - Male, U6 - Male, U7 - Male, U8 - Male, U9 - Male, U10 - Male, U11 - Male, U12 - Male, U14 - Male and Open group - Male.
At the program, the Organizing Committee presented souvenir flags to the clubs; presented 20 gifts to 20 lucky athletes at the Lucky Chessgift mini game; presented 5 gifts to 5 students in difficult circumstances to encourage and share with them before the new school year.
After a day of intense competition, the tournament ended successfully. Many young players demonstrated their bravery, sharp thinking and fair-play spirit, leaving behind many great games and unforgettable impressions.
In the end, the Organizing Committee representative awarded 56 individual prizes, 56 team prizes and 158 consolation prizes for 14 groups. Including 14 first prizes; 14 second prizes; 28 third prizes.
On this occasion, Stem Academy awarded 656 scholarships worth 380 million VND; Vietnam - China Foreign Language Center awarded 180 vouchers to 180 athletes with excellent achievements at the tournament with a total value of more than 300 million VND; Asem Scholarship Fund awarded scholarships worth 208 million VND.
