This is an opportunity for the public to admire many works of art from soil and bonsai, crystallized from the talented hands and passion of artisans.

Storytelling Pottery

Taking place at the thematic gallery of Pleiku Museum (Pleiku ward), the ceramic exhibition "Soul of the Earth" (from August 29 to September 15) in addition to the Museum's artifacts, also attracted 7 private collectors from inside and outside the province to participate in the exhibition with 80 sets of rare artifacts (each set from 3 to 5 items).

Mr. Le Thanh Tuan, Director of Pleiku Museum, said that the exhibition consists of 4 parts: From terracotta to ceramics - the journey of transformation of the soil; Glazed ceramics - The essence of ceramics; Ceramics in the flow of modern life; Corner of experiencing handmade ceramics of ethnic minorities in the Central Highlands. From there, visitors can have an overview of ceramics in Vietnam, following a journey of discovery that began about ten thousand years ago, when ancient Vietnamese people knew how to exploit clay to make ceramic products for their daily life.

The pottery in the early period is associated with the following cultures: Phung Nguyen, Dong Dau, Go Mun, Dong Son (North); Pre-Sa Huynh, Sa Huynh (Central); Dong Nai culture (South), Bien Ho culture (Central Highlands)... Then, glazed pottery - a big step forward in the history of ceramics, began to appear in our country around the 1st - 3rd century during the period of Chinese domination. During the feudal period, Vietnamese pottery had a leap forward with diverse, beautiful and very sophisticated glazes.

The 15th - 18th centuries were a period of strong development of trade between Vietnam and other countries in the world , creating conditions for the ceramic production profession in Vietnam to develop rapidly with the names of many famous ceramic production centers.

In particular, the exhibition introduces visitors to an interesting part of the content, which is jars in the life of ethnic minorities in the Central Highlands. In the old Central Highlands society, only wealthy families with high social status could own many jars. From the trading and exchange activities of indigenous people, the jar collections converge many ancient ceramic lines of China, Thailand, Khmer; ancient ceramics of Binh Dinh, My Thien, Chau O, Quang Duc; Cay Mai, Lai Thieu, Binh Duong ceramics...

Contributing to the exhibition of 34 precious artifacts, collector Dang Hoang Than (An Khe ward) said that, in addition to the blue and white ceramics of the Kangxi period, he is most fond of the Central Highlands jars. There are some items that he has spent a lot of time collecting, for example, a pair of rain-praying jars (an important ritual of the indigenous people) with embossed toads. Passionate about antiques, collector Man Phong Son also brought 12 unique artifacts from Dak Lak to participate in the exhibition, including Go Sanh ceramic artifacts, created around the 15th century.

“This is the property of the whole community, but I have the chance to preserve it. I want to contribute to this playground so that visitors can have a more diverse view of pottery,” Mr. Son shared.

Walking among the "miniature ancient trees" forest

Also on this occasion, Gia Lai Bonsai Club in collaboration with Pleiku Museum opened the exhibition of ornamental plants “Green Forest”. About 100 bonsai works will be displayed at the Museum (from August 29 to September 5), showcasing the talent and creativity of the artisans.
