Recently, the Vietnam National Administration of Tourism announced that the World's Best Awards 2025, which voted for ideal destinations by Travel and Leisure magazine, honored Hoi An ( Da Nang City) as "ranked" 6th in the top 25 cities in the world and 5th in the list of top 15 cities in Asia.
In the annual World's Best Awards 2025 survey, readers of the world-famous travel magazine Travel and Leisure expressed their preference for large cities with lots of space and potential for exploration.
According to readers' reviews, the cities on the world's and Asia's top lists all have everything that makes tourists love them: spectacular sights, top-notch luxury hotels, rich cuisine and a vibrant, engaging atmosphere.
Vietnam National Administration of Tourism reported that this year readers are interested in criteria such as natural landscape, history - culture, diverse cuisine, hotel quality, nightlife, friendliness of local people, etc.
What is special this year is that 7 Asian cities are among the top 10 cities in the world rankings, demonstrating the strong attraction of Asian tourism.
Once the most important and bustling trading port in Southeast Asia, Hoi An stands out with its unique ancient architecture and rich network of rivers and canals, and this year it has "caught the eye" of readers.
Hoi An, a famous ancient town now under the jurisdiction of Da Nang City, when mentioned, cannot miss the relic of the Japanese Covered Bridge - an ancient structure over 400 years old with the Hoai River flowing through the center of the ancient town.
According to statistics, Hoi An still preserves almost intact 1,100 ancient houses that are hundreds of years old. The ancient streets are not too crowded, with a special architectural style that cannot be found anywhere else, making visitors praise them.
In addition, Hoi An is also recognized by UNESCO as a World Cultural Heritage for its unique historical, architectural and cultural values. According to the Vietnam National Administration of Tourism, in the first half of 2025, Hoi An welcomed 2.8 million visitors, an increase of 17.4% over the same period in 2024. Of which, 1.5 million international visitors purchased tickets to visit tourist attractions, contributing to an estimated revenue of VND 3,163 billion, an increase of 41.3%.
This small city welcomes 3.25 million visitors each year and is growing at an average of 15% per year.
