According to a source, three players playing abroad, Quang Hai (Pau FC), Cong Phuong (Yokohama FC) and Van Toan (Seoul E-Land), were all called up by coach Troussier to join the Vietnamese national team on FIFA Day in June.
Cong Phuong has only played 2 minutes in Yokohama's shirt.
The most notable of these names is Nguyen Cong Phuong, who has been absent from the Vietnamese team since the AFF Cup 2022.
Most recently, in the first gathering of the "Golden Star Warriors" in 2023 (March), the striker from Nghe An also did not join the gathering.
Since moving to Yokohama FC at the beginning of the 2023 season, Cong Phuong has only played 2 minutes in the 2-3 loss to Nagoya in the 3rd round of the J-League Cup on April 5.
Most of the time CP10 had to sit on the bench or was not registered to play for the J-League 1 team.
Meanwhile, Quang Hai and Van Toan have both played for the Vietnamese national team in recent gatherings (except for the gathering in March 2023).
On the occasion of FIFA Day in June, Coach Troussier and his team will have two friendly matches with Hong Kong (China) and Syria.
On June 15, the Red Army will face Hong Kong at Lach Tray Stadium. On June 20, they will face Syria at Thien Truong Stadium.
