On the evening of June 13, in the semi-finals of the 2025 AVC Nations Cup, the Vietnamese women's volleyball team convincingly defeated Kazakhstan 3-1 (25-15, 19-25, 25-7, 25-16) to win a ticket to the final match. The tournament took place at the Dong Anh District Gymnasium, Hanoi .

"Through today's match, everyone can see the developments of the sets are completely different. I told the players that we have to focus more, because there were sets where we won 25-7, but there were also sets where we lost 19-25. At the end of set 1 and the beginning of set 2, we revealed problems with our first-step receiving technique when the opponent changed their serving strategy," head coach Nguyen Tuan Kiet of the Vietnamese women's volleyball team told a press conference on the evening of June 13 after the match.

This was the match in which Thanh Thuy and her teammates lost the first set since the beginning of the tournament (19-25). The Vietnamese women's volleyball team won the first and last two sets 25-15, 25-7 and 25-16.

"Their first pass system became clumsy when Kazakhstan served the ball to the main strikers. Even if we did, it wouldn't be beautiful because we lacked strategy. If we are still mentally unstable, it will be difficult for us to reach a higher level. Losing a set shows that the next match will be very difficult for the Vietnamese women's volleyball team," said coach Tuan Kiet.

He continued: "To reach the top, we have a lot of work to do and learn. The team's highest goal is to win the SEA Games 33 gold medal at the end of the year. But first, we have to focus on the final match tomorrow night."

For her part, captain Tran Thi Thanh Thuy shared: "I myself am not really satisfied with my performance. I still made many mistakes and have not shown my role as captain on the field. I will try to improve and fight in the upcoming final match."

The Vietnamese women's volleyball team will face either Chinese Taipei or the Philippines in the final on the evening of June 14. Coach Tuan Kiet said the playing styles of the two teams are quite similar.

"No matter who our final opponent is, we are ready to face them and will play to the best of our ability to defend our championship," said coach Tuan Kiet.
