Coach Mai Duc Chung thanks fans after his team's victory over Thailand

VHO - The Vietnamese women's football team defeated Thailand 3-1 in the third-place match to win the bronze medal at the 2025 Southeast Asian Women's Football Championship. Speaking after the match, coach Mai Duc Chung thanked the fans and was satisfied with his players' performance.

In this match, although the Vietnamese women's team did not play better than their opponents in the first half, they still scored a goal in the 45th minute by Hai Yen. In the second half, Huynh Nhu and Bich Thuy scored to raise the score to 3-0, before Thailand scored an honorary goal at the end of the match.

Coach Mai Duc Chung sent his thanks to fans nationwide after his team's victory.

After the match, coach Mai Duc Chung expressed his pride and thanked fans nationwide, especially Hai Phong fans, and affirmed that the enthusiastic support from the stands had given the players the strength to win.

Coach Mai Duc Chung shared: "First of all, on behalf of the Vietnamese women's team, let me thank the fans nationwide and the Hai Phong audience for supporting, cheering, and helping the team win."

Talking about the second victory against the Thai women's team in this tournament, coach Mai Duc Chung Chung expressed his pride: "We won very convincingly against the Thai women's team.

This is the second time we have won and this brings joy and excitement to all Vietnamese people."

A large number of fans came to the stadium to "support" the Vietnamese girls in the third place match.

Coach Mai Duc Chung also highly appreciated the team's efforts at the tournament: "The loss to Australia was just an accident, because the opponent was too strong and had superior physique.

But the fact that we made them confused in the second half is a good sign. In any match, the players play with more than 100% of their strength, I have nothing to complain about."

Regarding the preparation plan for the 33rd SEA Games in Thailand in December, coach Mai Duc Chung said that after the Southeast Asian tournament, the players will return to their clubs to compete in the National Championship.

Vietnamese girls beat Thailand for the second time at the tournament

The coaching staff will monitor, evaluate performance and select additional personnel, possibly adding some young faces from the U20 team after the domestic tournament ends.

Meanwhile, Thailand head coach Futoshi Ikeda congratulated the Vietnamese team and admitted that the opponent deserved the victory.

Coach Futoshi Ikeda believes that failures like this will be valuable lessons for young Thai players to improve, and affirms that the team will continue to adjust and prepare for the goal of conquering the 33rd SEA Games gold medal.
