- In a lively and exciting atmosphere, the 13th "Red Journey" program in Lang Son took place from June 18 to 20. Thereby, 1,352 units of blood were received. This result demonstrates the spirit of charity of the people of Lang Son.
From June 18, the 13th "Red Journey" program this year took place with many rich and attractive contents and activities. The program's series of activities kicked off with a solemn incense offering, flower offering and reporting ceremony at the President Ho Chi Minh Memorial Site and the statue of comrade Hoang Van Thu; a parade to promote voluntary blood donation on main streets in Lang Son city. This was followed by the opening ceremony of the "Red Journey" program and the "Giot Hong Xu Lang" Blood Donation Festival in 2025 and an art exchange. The series of activities in the program attracted a large number of cadres, civil servants, public employees, workers at agencies, units and people in the area to participate.
At the opening ceremony of the Blood Donation Festival “Red Drops of Lang Son 2025” held on June 19, Mr. Duong Xuan Huyen, Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee, Head of the Provincial Steering Committee for Voluntary Blood Donation, emphasized: “Blood is a priceless gift, bringing life to patients. The 12th Red Journey in Lang Son has affirmed the spirit of solidarity and humanity of the community. With 10,600 units of blood received in 2024 and nearly 3,200 units in the first 6 months of 2025, Lang Son continues to be a bright spot in the blood donation movement nationwide.
On this occasion, the Provincial Red Cross, the standing agency, mobilized more than 60 volunteers and organized thorough training on the process of receiving and caring for blood donors. Parades, leaflet distribution and art performances spread the message of “Connecting Vietnamese blood”. Immediately after the opening ceremony, leaders of the units visited and encouraged blood donors and presented gifts to 20 patients with thalassemia at Lang Son General Hospital.
Ms. Nong Bich Thuan, President of the Provincial Red Cross Society, Deputy Head of the Provincial Steering Committee for Voluntary Blood Donation, said: This year, the "Red Journey" program is organized in the context of implementing the organizational arrangement. Therefore, currently, many provinces and cities across the country have been slow in organizing blood donation campaigns, leading to an increase in blood donation shortages this summer. Therefore, the "Red Journey" program organized at this time in Lang Son is extremely meaningful. In order for the program to be successful, effective and have a high impact, we have proactively coordinated with agencies and units, especially those involved in promoting propaganda and mobilizing people to donate blood. At the same time, we have fully and thoughtfully prepared other conditions such as facilities, equipment and related tasks, the contents of the program...
This year, due to objective reasons, Lang Son city and Cao Loc district could not co-organize the activities in the 13th "Red Journey" program as planned. However, with close coordination between agencies, units from the province to the grassroots and related individuals, the program was carried out smoothly, achieving impressive results.
Specifically, the program attracted a large number of cadres, civil servants, public employees, workers, officers and soldiers in the armed forces and the people to register for voluntary blood donation and received 1,352 units of blood. This amount of blood was transferred to the Central Institute of Hematology and Blood Transfusion to separate and extract blood products and then transferred to medical facilities to serve the emergency and treatment of patients.
Mr. Trieu Van Trong, Head of the Lang Son City Live Blood Bank Club, said: "I myself have always actively responded to the "Red Journey" program. As the head of the Club, I regularly promote and mobilize members to donate blood when their health allows. Participating in this year's program, we lined up early in the morning of June 19 to be able to donate our blood, contributing to the success of the voluntary blood donation festival."
It can be said that the 13th "Red Journey" in 2025 in Lang Son has continued the success of the "Red Journey" program in recent years. The program has been organized methodically with the active participation of the community. With the achieved results, it is believed that in the coming time, the "Red Journey" program in Lang Son in particular and in the whole country in general will continue to create positive impacts, contributing to raising awareness and providing valuable blood sources for the health sector, spreading noble gestures in the community.
