10 Vietnamese universities in QS World University Rankings

On June 19, QS (Quacquarelli Symonds) ranking organization announced the results of the QS World University Rankings 2026 (QS WUR 2026), in which 10 Vietnamese training institutions participated.

Specifically: Duy Tan University (ranked 482); Ton Duc Thang University (ranked 684); Hanoi National University (ranked 761-770); Ho Chi Minh City National University (801-850); Van Lang University (1001-1200); three training institutions in the same 1201-1400 positions are: Can Tho University; Hanoi University of Science and Technology and Ho Chi Minh City University of Industry; two training institutions in the 1401+ group are Hue University and Da Nang University.

Thus, compared to last year, Vietnam has added 4 universities to this ranking: Van Lang University; Can Tho University; Ho Chi Minh City University of Industry and Da Nang University. Along with that, there are 4 schools that increased their positions on the ranking: Duy Tan University, Ton Duc Thang University; Hanoi National University and Ho Chi Minh City National University.

In this ranking, QS WUR 2026 ranked 1,501 highereducation institutions out of a total of 8,467 participating higher education institutions from 106 countries and territories; 112 higher education institutions were ranked for the first time.

The QS WUR 2026 ranking continues to use a research methodology consisting of 9 criteria and there is no change in weight compared to the previous ranking. Specifically: Academic reputation 30%; Recruitment reputation 15%; Ratio of scientists/students 10%; Number of citations/scientific staff 20%; Ratio of international scientists 5%; Ratio of international students 5%; International research network 5%; Employment rate of graduates 5%; Sustainable development 5%.

Southeast Asia has 95 universities ranked in the QS WUR 2026. Malaysia is the Southeast Asian country with the most ranked institutions (32), followed by Indonesia (26), Thailand (15), Vietnam (10), Philippines (6), Singapore (4) and Brunei (2). Although only 4 universities are ranked, Singapore still shows its leading position with 2 universities in the world group of 15: National University of Singapore (NUS) ranked 8th and Nanyang Technological University (NTU) ranked 12th.
