Son Tra tourist night market, an attractive tourist destination in Da Nang, is facing chaos due to the proliferation of spontaneous stalls, affecting the urban beauty and healthy business environment.

Son Tra Night Market, located at a new location on the right side of Dragon Bridge (An Hai Ward), has officially reopened since August 1 after a temporary closure for rearrangement. With an area of nearly 4,000m2 and 250 stalls, the market has quickly become a popular attraction for domestic and foreign tourists.

According to the investor's estimate, the market attracts 5,000-6,000 visitors on normal weeknights and can reach up to 8,000 visitors on weekends, during peak times.

However, this crowding also leads to spontaneous stalls springing up around the market.

Dan Tri reporters recorded many sugarcane juice, snack, milk tea carts... occupying sidewalks and roads, obstructing traffic and ruining the urban beauty. Many people arbitrarily set up tables and chairs, haphazardly display fruits, solicit customers, and do not list prices.

Although there is coordination between the police, the ward's urban regulations force and the market management board to ensure security and order, patrols usually only last until around 9 p.m. Knowing this, street vendors immediately "run rampant" after 9 p.m., when the number of tourists flocking to the market is at its peak.

The street vendor situation not only creates unfair competition with small traders renting kiosks in the market (who have to pay rent, taxes, ensure food hygiene and safety...) but also poses a potential risk to food hygiene and safety and public order.

A trader in the market expressed his frustration: "We have reported to the market management board and authorities, but the situation has not been resolved. We hope that the authorities will clear the street vendors around the market so that traders can do business in peace."

The representative of the investor of Son Tra tourist night market admitted that there are dozens of spontaneous shops around the market, especially crowded on weekends. However, the reporter contacted Mr. Hoang Cong Thanh, Chairman of An Hai Ward People's Committee, many times to seek multi-dimensional information but received no response.

The Da Nang City People's Committee will hold a meeting on August 22 with local authorities, investors and related sectors to resolve the chaos at this night market, in order to restore order to residents and tourists.
