Two Koreans in Vietnam…

Báo Thanh niênBáo Thanh niên21/01/2025

Although not living close to each other, the Vietnamese and Korean people have many similarities, from history to present, from reality to philosophy of life. The two coaches Park Hang-seo and Kim Sang-sik are Korean, of course they understand the personality and temperament of the Vietnamese people through the Vietnamese players they lead. Understanding, sympathizing and loving their players, knowing how to connect players with each other, players with coaches like in a family, that is the similarity between Mr. Park and Mr. Kim.

These two coaches are not the same in terms of tactical operation on the field, but they are quite similar in terms of discovering new and young players. In this area, Mr. Kim is more daring than Mr. Park, from the way he rotates to the way he trusts young players. But they are similar in their solid playing style starting from the defense, and especially paying attention to the midfield with a dynamic playing style. Choosing the right players for each line is also a similarity between these two coaches.

Of course, the biggest similarity between Mr. Park and Mr. Kim is still the empathy for the whole team, for each player, whether they are starting or reserve. This point makes the two Korean coaches far superior to European coaches. And that is the decisive point that brought the Vietnamese team led by the two men to achievements that European coaches before them had never achieved.

I have the feeling when watching the Vietnamese team led by Mr. Park and Mr. Kim, the team operates like the flow of a river. Even the opponents who lose to the Vietnamese team cannot predict that operation, just like they cannot predict the whirlpools in a seemingly gentle river. That is the way of playing football imbued with Eastern philosophy that the two Korean coaches have absorbed in their blood.

Luckily for us, Korea has one of the most developed football backgrounds in Asia, and is capable of competing with strong opponents in the world . It is from this development background that the two coaches Park Hang-seo and Kim Sang-sik can approach world football, from which they lead the Vietnamese teams, from the national team to the U.23 team, to play football in a modern style, but still promote the physical characteristics and innate agility of Vietnamese players. Suitability is always necessary when introducing new tactics into Vietnamese football today.

Both Mr. Park and Mr. Kim have found a connection with Vietnamese players in their own way, which is a very positive difference between the two. Football is also an art, and the difference between artists, from coaches to players, creates the appeal and the ability to reach the peak.
